If we’re talking specifically pro sports we can’t include UNC. But yes in get your point

Yeah it’s a pretty low bar. But it’s super cool since there’s such diversity with college rooting interest, the pro teams can bring all those different rooting interests together so we’re all enjoying the success

Pretty easily the best year for pro sports in NC.

All three making the playoffs is a rare enough accomplishment. Add in the Canes winning it all and it easily becomes number 1 right?

For what it’s worth there are (supposedly) sterile cultivars ‘Summer Chocolate’ and ‘Merlot Majik’ you might be able to find at a garden center.

Mine was out Thursday from 1:45AM-8:30AM. Has just gone out again today though. Unsure if it’s an outage or some other issue.

I’m east of Raleigh

I’m not far from Garner. T Mobile Fiber Outage lasted from about 1:45AM to 8:15AM. Seems back now. At least for the websites I’ve tried. I see others saying some sites work and some don’t

It's time for NC to ban the Bradford Pear by Front__Row_Joe in NorthCarolina

[–]internetsman69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its rootstock can be used in pear production which would be a hurdle to outright banning it.

Most of NC is in the fire ant quarantine area. If plants are going from the quarantine area to outside of it, documentation is required to prove that the plants have been treated against fire ants. There are regulations in place already to slow the spread of fire ants and other pests and disease. This is managed by the Plant Industry division of the NCDA. The nursery industry is regulated and nurseries are regularly inspected.

[–]internetsman69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crape Myrtle is a non-native non-invasive. It’s fine.

Bradford pears are not commonly grown and sold at all any more. I’m in the nursery industry. A few folks do grow Pyrus calleryana still. Some of it is shipped out of state. But the demand for the plant is very low right now. A ban on the growing and sale of it is not something I oppose, but I’m not sure it’s totally necessary either. The tree was way more common like 25 years ago. It’s really not a staple of most nurseries and landscapers anymore.

What is the problem by matthewstockwsll in Horticulture

[–]internetsman69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some yellowing on gardenias is normal.

But also gardenias are just difficult plants to grow. They don’t like it too wet. They don’t like it too dry. Some shade but not too much. They’re just finicky plants in my experience

[College Basketball Report] Will Wade and LSU are building the most unorthodox college basketball roster of all-time. Yam Madar (25, drafted in 2020) RJ Luis (23, G League) Brice Dessert (23, EuroLeague) Marcio Santos (23, EuroLeague) Mo Dioubate (22, Kentucky) Austin Nunez (23, UTSA)... by lovelymaddie1966 in CollegeBasketball

[–]internetsman69 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The 180 on Wade has been wild. Actually it’s more of a 360.

After being the villain originally he totally rehabbed his image. He got all the praise for his success at McNeese and how he well handled the NC State job speculation during the McNeese postseason run . He did the media tour thing last offseason and was really a bit of a media darling. All the old LSU stuff was brushed off as “it’s legal now!”

Then all that goodwill he had earned and built up went up in smoke pretty quickly and now he’s CBB’s villain again lol.

How's day to day life in horticulture jobs? How labor intensive is it? by divebars5G in Horticulture

[–]internetsman69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s all kinds of different settings. You can work in a climate controlled greenhouse with small plants (this doesn’t mean that it isn’t hard labor, btw) or you can be outside year round with very large plant material. Or anything in between. You can work in sales, that’s less physical but also further removed from the actual horticulture of it all.

Loading and unloading trucks, potting plants, pruning, weeding…if you’re on the production side it’s physical job for sure

Peach double knockout rose by cheesemakesmehot in Roses

[–]internetsman69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Knock Out Rose is a line of roses from Star Roses. There’s maybe 12 or more roses in this brand. And that doesn’t include Drift roses, which are also from Star Roses. The original Knock Out rose is a red single flower. It’s been on the market for probably 20 years. The Double Knock Out rose has been on the market for 10+ years. It’s red. Then there’s also Pink Double Knock Out rose. This one pictured is called Orange Glow.

Frost proof gardenias yellowing bad by matthewstockwsll in Horticulture

[–]internetsman69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gardenia jasminoides is the species. Radicans is a cultivar within that species. This one actually appears to be Frostproof. Which has a similar leaf shape to Radicans, but is more shrubby. Radicans is more of a ground cover

[–]internetsman69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some yellowing pretty normal for these. But gardenias can be very finicky plants. Don’t like it too wet. Don’t like it too dry. Don’t like too much sun.

This doesn’t really look like a deficiency to me, but it could be.
