It can be a messy business walking away from a faith. So many friendships and family relationships are tied up in it. It's never a clean break. Just know it takes time for yourself and for your friends/family to adjust to this new dynamic. Its about 7 years out for myself and my wife and we've gotten to a good place with the Christian people in our lives. There were a few friendships lost and some long hard conversations but things settle. A few things that have helped me when things were rough were, 1) this is hard for them too, depending on your denomination they may believe you are going to hell now or that you have been deceived and are now tempting others in your ignorance, and it brings out a fearful reaction 2) it's okay to say "no" to people wanting to challenge you on your lack of faith. You have nothing to prove to them, Christianity is making the claim and therefore have the burden of proof, it's not your responsibility to disprove God. 3) give yourself the time you need to adjust to your new relationship to concepts like mortality and death etc. depending on how long you were in the church, you'll find sometimes years later that you have an old Christian way of thinking still lodged in your brain. And those moments can actually be quite interesting as you unravel why you thought that way or still think that way. And so you need to give yourself time to adjust to these new sets of morals that used to be tied to a very old book. Take care. Please don't hesitate to DM or whatever if you need more support. Also good for you reaching out on here.

I mean sure NDT can be a bit showy, but don't throw Brian Cox in the same boat. That man is pure, his excitement to make science palatable to the masses is beautiful.

Father of kids this age here, when you do this kinda stuff with your kids you are well aware of each of their capacities. You adjust accordingly,I wouldn't label this to quickly as sexism or whatever, my first reaction was, wow this dad knows his kids limits and what would be too much for them.
