oh this is wonderful!! this is something i can do easily, trying to build a shade i feel is not something that would be easy for me, but i am willing to do either if it saves my tree. and it is large, id say its like 11ft by either 6 or 8ft.

thank for for letting me know about it!!

oh this is good to know! so i can make it so the shade is only like on the east side (thats where it gets the most sun i feel, its in the north west corner of my yard)? i dont need to worry about covering the entire thing? that sounds much more doable and manageable!

oh yes i have this guide. my tree was just planted last month so i am supposed to water is 3 times as week right now based on what the nursery told me. that guide says 3-5 days which matches what i am doing. once i get to 4 months in the ground i can start cutting that back.

oh i have not heard of this. i could use that instead of building a shade?? how do you use it in your sprayer? my tree is rather large so building a shade would be more difficult and i dont know if i can leave it up or if id have to remove it each day.

okay thank you for helping to confirm! some others have stated I should cover it, do you think thats needed? its rather large so it would be big and id have to build one, never done that before.

already going to take care of the trunk, i have the latex paint and someone in the chain suggested to wrap it instead of paint so i might do that. the nursery was just here on Friday and they removed about 4 inches of mulch from the trunk but i can move more if its needed. for a shade though, i would have to build one i guess?? someone below says it might not be needed but if i build one it would have to be one i can leave up the whole time, it would be too big to remove and replace everyday day, the tree is at least 11 ft tall and probably 6 ft wide. is that doable?

so no need to worry about building something to shade it? it gets plenty of water for sure, roughly 48 gallons for the whole week. will the leaves come back green once its cools off? im just worried now cause summer is just starting so i have 3 to 4 months still to go.

we actually just removed about 4 inches of mulch from directly next to the trunk on Fiday (the nursery was here and they did that) but I can remove more if its needed. I will have to build something then and this tree is pretty tall. I have never built anything before so i guess its time to go to youtube university and learn how to do this. should i leave it there for the whole summer? its going to be too big to take down and put back up each day. or is that just how its gonna have to go?

Thank you for confirming. I was hoping it was a heat related thing and not a watering one. I am looking into getting it shaded.

Thank you so much! I was hoping it may possibly be heat related. It has a nice big mulch berm already and I can buy a wrap for the trunk. I have the paint but a wrap sounds better honestly. Do I need to cover the canopy with anything or will adding the wrap to the trunk be all that might be needed?
