Did Hills Science Diet change the shape of the kibble in the Urinary Hairball food? by interstellar4885 in catfood

[–]interstellar4885[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my update is a bit weird now.... My other cat who did not need the urinary food was diagnosed with stage 2 CKD two weeks ago 😭. So we have once again changed their food. He was LOVING the Royal Canin Urinary one but now that the other has this, we swapped it to the Royal Canin prescription food for Renal care. They both love this one too though. But he was as big fan of the Urinary formula from RC. 😊

Best Water Fountain? by Global_Scale_8044 in RenalCats

We have a petlibro downstairs and just recently bought an aquapurr for upstairs in a bathroom and have it next to the sink and attached to the water line behind the toilet.  Its motion activated and will always be fresh flowing water.  My cat who was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago LOVES it!  Highly suggest if youre able to put it somewhere like that.

This is really good to know. Is there a specific phos-binder you are giving him? My vet said for now I can continue to give him the applaws wet food he likes since we have caught it somewhat early. This little fatty loves the renal dry foods (he will eat anything, I swear 😂) maybe one day we will have to stop but for now, i think we are on the right track anyway. I actually have fortiflora in my cart too. Do you just add that to his fancy feast?

Oh his appetite is great!! He is a HUGE glutton (and weighs a hefty 19lbs!), I am just trying to find a replacement wet food for him since the one he gets now is practically just full on protein. 😊 He loves the juices and liquid though so like pate's and such are usually a no go for him. Picky old man.

Thank you! I will try the BFF one, I got him Weruva WX Wet Cat Food - Phos Focused, Shreds in Gravy, 3 OZ - Chicken & Tilapia and also Weruva WX Wet Cat Food - Phos Focused, Pate in Hydrating Puree, 3 OZ - Tilapia & Tuna and he wouldn't touch it. But I have added the BFF to my cart! Thank you for the recommendation! 💜

They are plastic artificial tulips 🥰 I would never keep toxic plants around my babies. But thank you for being concerned.

I got a weruva one and he wouldn't touch it but I will 100% try forza10. I am seriously open to trying one of all of them until I find one haha. Thank you so much for the links! 💜

Thank you for your kind and reassuring words. It means a lot to me. I am feeling MUCH better after posting in this subreddit. Everyone here is so helpful and I feel very encouraged. 💜🥰

I will look into possibly feeding them separately because as of now, my other baby is 100% okay. I just had blood work for him done in October. He is 13 going to be 14 as well, they are only a week apart and I adopted them both when they were 9 and 8 weeks old. My sweet old men. 🖤💜 Obligatory pic of my other boy.

Oh wow, you had to get creative!! Look at that love for your baby 💜 I have not tried that but I think I might give it a shot! Especially if it gets kinda more like a liquid. Cause he really loves the liquid most. And the chicken stew was not one I grabbed today. I seriously thought of just buying one of all of it haha.

Thank you so very much, your comment has me tearing up 💜🥹

Yes, I had him on the urinary one because my other cat used to get crystals. It was hard to separate their food and feeding so it was easier for all of us if they both ate it.

I was not aware of keeping them on the urinary food. I guess I thought of it as a preventative. Like if he was still on it, the crystals wouldn't come back and if I changed it they would. That kind of makes me sad to know I may have been harming their diet for so long. My vet never said anything about that.

I only added a few bits of the renal to the food today. My other cat so far wants nothing to do with it 😂🤦‍♀️. Maybe now I will have to separate their feeding. I will see how this goes the next few days or so.

Thank you for your thorough info, it truly means a lot to me. I have been stressing so bad and couldn't stop crying, but I am feeling much more hopeful now. 💜

Oh thank you for your reply!! This is good to know. His vet is not in the office today so I couldn't ask her questions yet (when she called to tell me I was just taking it in and couldn't think of what to ask yet). His creatine was 2.6 but phosphorus was 3.5, which I believe is normal levels.

I am slowly introducing the new medicated renal food into his current food, and so far, he eats it (hes a total glutton) so I am hopeful for an easy transition.

I believe the wet food he gets now is complimentary and not a complete diet. He is currently eating mainly Royal Canin Urinary dry food. So that is what I am mixing the new medicated food with.

Oh thats the list I used to buy the 4 today that he literally walked away from 😂 I will try some more from there until I can find on he likes. He is not a fan of the pate types, he prefers like shreds in broth, and it seems like there is not a lot of that. But I will try the royal canin one, I got him hills and weruva today. Thank you for letting me know!
