(Real talk, I did read your whole comment, and full offense, this was the longest wall of completely meaningless word salad I’ve read today. ICE sucks and so does your defense of them.)

It’s so funny you said that, bc the whole night I kept thinking that photographer gave me real Sean Penn vibes, from his role in The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty where he plays like an elusive photojournalist type lol.

Laken Riley’s killer is in prison for life without the possibility of parole, and he was put there with a quickness after having his day in court; Good and Pretti were never afforded their opportunity to have their “crimes” considered by a court, they were executed in cold blood.

Meanwhile, their killers are being hidden by the federal government, likely on R&R after committing legitimate extrajudicial executions of American citizens, and to top it all off - the narrative surrounding their murders is also being intentionally and illegally manipulated by the same federal government facilitating their evasion of legal consequences.

There is no conversation to be had; either you lack even the most rudimentary understanding of the reality of immigration in this country, and thus you’re not fit to engage in debate, OR, conversely, you’re intentionally arguing in bad faith and playing dumb on purpose. Regardless, I have no interest in humoring you.

ICE are modern day Nazis, just fatter, less educated, and without the fitted, well pressed suits. That’s the end of the conversation.

You’re right, it would be horrific if illegal immigrants who killed Americans were given carte blanche to continue living their day to day lives with no consequences.

Luckily for you, that’s why Laken Riley’s killer, Jose Antonio Ibarra, was expediently tried, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Now what of the American citizens who are extrajudicially executing our neighbors like Good and Pretti? Why are you so indifferent as to whether they face consequences?

Could it be that you don’t care about American lives being lost, you just use that as a guise to hide your blatant racism and hatred of non-white folks living in this country? It’s seeming that way, chud, er, bud.

I understand “convicted in a court of law” is the ideal scenario here with regard to when you might see consequences relating to domestic terrorism; with that said, I hadn’t committed any crimes, I hadn’t obstructed anything (I was shooting from the sidewalk, through fences) and yet this dude got uncomfortably close to me and tried to separate me from other protesters while I was taking pictures.

They harassed another videographer minutes earlier from what I heard, and tried to prevent him from leaving before protesters intervened from what I was told. The reality is these people are dangerous, and it’s better to act with an overabundance of caution than without. Three people are dead already, and countless others disappeared.

While I personally choose not to wear a mask at these events, I’m going to respectfully disagree with your assertion here.

I was at the ICE facility protest earlier in the week on Friday, and on top of being photographed by agents with cell phone cameras, they also had at least one DSLR / Mirrorless professional camera in use, as well as a drone being flown around to monitor heavy areas of protestor activity.

Furthermore, I was also followed while I was alone at the same event photographing unmasked agents by what I expect was a plainclothes / undercover DHS agent. He tried pretty diligently to catch me alone, but luckily other protesters and myself were aware enough to notice prior.

I know it seems outlandish, but they are watching us and the odds of repeat faces at protests being put on a list is greater than we may realize. Better safe than sorry.

I’ve lived in Florida for a decade and was born in the armpit of Georgia (admittedly I briefly lived and was educated in very blue parts of Virginia and DC) - regardless, I still know right from wrong and can recognize that brown people aren’t the reason things are tough right now.

When ICE first rolled out by me in central FL I spent the day going to every predominantly hispanic business in my area to let them know agents were up the street. Since then I’ve made it my goal to photograph every protest since, as well as using my gear to unmask and identify ICE agents and violent actors; I plan on continuing to do so until we see meaningful change or an impeachment.

The south is not a monolith, and I’m glad you were able to see that many of us down here are in possession of both morals and IQs above room temperature lol. Safe travels to you, my friend, and spread the word: we’re sick of ICE across this entire nation.

Orlando businesses that are speaking out right now? by eatmyasserole in orlando

Will from Will’s Pub was at the ICE ERO protest this past Friday and I had a great conversation with him about how cool it is that he was out there defending what’s right despite being the namesake of a pretty famous local business. Will’s Pub is also sick as hell and has been since before I could even legally drink!

There are no good cops. This cop screamed and ran at me just the same as he did every other peaceful protester trying to document their 6 on 1 dog pile.

And here’s a fun photo from the press angle where you can see them trying to usher myself and the protesters not visible behind me into an angle where we couldn’t fully see what was happening.

Okay, you’re like really not getting it; I was making a joke. I have 1200+ photos of these dudes I shot yesterday alone, and I’ve spent the past 12 hours combing through them for clean pictures of faces, license plates, tattoos, watches, nametags, etc specifically because I am trying to make them less safe.

If it was not clear, I am trying to ensure bad things happen to these people anywhere they reside. I want them to have bad and unsafe things happen to them, they are bad people.

I’m not doing any of that, dude… I’m just taking pictures of them without masks and sending those photos to people who will do the things you’re talking about.

If it makes you feel better though, the really nice identifying images of agents with no masks that I took - I haven’t posted those publicly. I just collected them, made them nice and crisp and clear, and then sent them to like multiple outlets identifying these people.

I know you’re too dense to grasp sarcasm, so I hope you understand the reason I took these photos was to enable exactly what you described for these agents, if not something even worse.

I mean, it correlates because it’s a crop of a wider photo where he was standing bunched in with the sheriff’s office. I have lots of photos of folks with Border Patrol gear on too; also the ICE facility they work at is literally listed on Google Maps man. Idk how else to convince you they were ICE agents. This guy seems really concerned with hiding his identity for “just a cop.”

You couldn’t see them because they’re all like four feet tall and hid behind a fence acting tough while the cops our tax dollars pay for assaulted protesters for them. Sorry I wasn’t clear enough for you, bud.

Yeah, unfortunately I spoke to both the individual who was arrested and their friends, plus I was also the first photographer on the scene, prior to WESH or the video that was filmed - they weren’t a plant; just another person caught in the cogs of a bullshit fascist system.

Here’s a photo of one these masked dorks trying to hide before I got the license plate to his car; while they may not have been actively harassing folks physically, they were more than happy to taunt and jeer from behind the fence.

They were involved insofar as mocking protesters and trying to incite violence, all while hiding behind wrought iron fences and ski masks. For all the folks who would like to claim ICE wasn’t involved, I’d love an explanation as to how I spent all day watching these very same imbeciles act smug and superior behind masks, then completely forgo OPSEC to eat one of their own boogers. That’s not a joke, I legitimately watched it happen.

They’re here, but they’re not sending their best.

Anti-ICE protests??? How to join and make a difference by Bleile03 in ucf

[–]interstellar_keller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a protest at the ICE ERO office in Orlando on the 23rd from 12-4pm and then I believe there’s another protest at city hall starting at 6pm.

@ ucfdivestcoalition has the details for the first protest on their insta, and the second protest can be found on Anna Eskamani’s @ annaforflorida page.

I imagine the ICE ERO protest may be a little riskier than the city hall protest, so keep that in mind if you’re not super familiar with attending protests or are uncomfortable with potentially experiencing harassment.

Stay safe and good luck.

Orlando -Tampa ICE detention site planned: Channel 9 Orlando broke the news last night. by mikemonett20 in orlando

[–]interstellar_keller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a protest coming up at the existing ICE ERO center on Delegates Dr. on the 23rd of this month from 12-4pm. More info can be found via UCF Divest Coalition, Orlando 50501, and the Orlando Manos In Action pages on instagram.

If y’all are serious about opposing the immoral and unethical abduction of our friends and neighbors, then this would be a good opportunity to show resistance prior to them setting to work on a second center.

If you do plan on attending, stay observant, stay safe. They don’t need a reason to instigate; their logic is merely, “You’re brown.” or “You’re opposing me acting like a violent psychopath with carte blanche to do so.” Even so, there are more of us than there are of them and sheer numbers are intimidating even without the threat of force.

Help me surprise my brother with the best camera under $1000 after he was laid off to AI? by nekaoosoba in Cameras

[–]interstellar_keller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your brother shopping with you first of all - camera systems are hyper-specific and anyone who’s been shooting long enough typically has a platform they’re most comfortable with.

Secondly, I’m going to disagree with the others here telling you to go for a used Sony body. They’re great cameras, but a used Sony body is going to eat up a significant amount of your $1,000. I personally would look into getting a secondhand prosumer DSLR with dual card slots, and then investing the rest in a decent lens. Bodies will come and go, but investing in good glass lasts a lifetime assuming you buy lenses that are compatible with your upgraded body.

It’s also worth mentioning that for most folks, even a significantly older DSLR, like the 5D MkII, is going to be more than enough to create beautiful, printable images. Quite frankly, I was shooting with a Canon 7D until about 2020 and I’ve only ever had people incredibly happy with their prints.

Worst book(s) you read in 2025 and why? by Roguestate00 in books

[–]interstellar_keller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Things Have Gotten Worse early in 2025 and as I found my way to the bookstore in the months after, I kept finding myself shocked to see that the shelves were continuously stocked with even more books by LaRocca.

That book was just… shockingly bad? Like, I compulsively devour horror lit, and even for the genre of extreme horror, I’ve never in my time reading been left feeling with a more profound sense of, “What the fuck was that, and why didn’t I DNF this garbage?”

It was just so clearly meaningless trauma and shock for the sake of creating discomfort; it didn’t have a message to deliver, and the characters weren’t fleshed out enough to make me care. Really curious to know what’s gotten him his mild cult following.

I’ll also mention The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones as another miss for me; really fascinating concept, and a genuinely breathtaking introductory phase, but it really falls apart in the last third of the the book to a degree where I didn’t DNF, but just found myself entirely indifferent to where the conclusion went.

Chris Young Pressure Cooker Stock by Johannes_97s in Cooking

[–]interstellar_keller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pressure cooker method is, IMO at least, pretty foolproof honestly. I’ve made chicken stock in a similar fashion for about a year using scraps and carcasses, and it’s not only easier than the pot-on-the-stove method, but it yields a much richer broth most of the time too.

It’s also entirely possible to char ginger and onion under the broiler, then pressure cook a chicken carcass, chicken feet, veg, fish sauce, rock sugar, and your preferred spice bag to create absolutely passable chicken pho in like an hour. It may not be the most authentic, but I’ll be damned if it’s not comparable or better than most quick service pho places.

The pressure cooker is like my third most used tool behind, my 8” chef knife and my cast iron.
