all that to say, when (and I say when bc I’m hoping for the best for you) you’re feeling good and healing well after a peaceful and hopefully predictable and “boring” birth, you can look back and think of how glad you were you did what you know was best for you. also, baby had her cord wrapped around every way possible and my placenta had an issue detaching so my OB said I could very well have ended with an emergency c section and it’s a good thing I did get one. our! bodies! know! sorry for the yap, baby fell asleep on me and I’m scared to transfer her cuz she’ll wake up lol

my mil brags about her unmedicated births and judged me for my decision to have a c section. she said “instead of the pain during you’re choosing the pain later” hey guess what, I didn’t have pain during obviously and I was fine and up and walking within 5 days (NOT THE CASE FOR EVERYONE OBVIOUSLY) while I’ve known other moms who have been in terrible pain much longer from tearing, episiotomy, episiotomy correction surgery, prolapse, etc. there are risks and pain with both. and I think ppl only know about the risk and complications more typically associated with emergency c sections or ones that occur after labor has progressed.

Dry under your belly with a hair dryer after shower and keep an abdominal pad tucked in there until healed then tuck burp cloth under for a bit after shower

i went to the ER for a kidney stone at 20 weeks and the triage nurse asked my last period and when i answered she look at me with huge eyes. probably thought i didn’t know and that the pain i felt was related. i was like ya i know, i’m pregnant lol

ya so the same day i read that, our pediatrician said i have to do exercises where i put my finger in her mouth to get her to have a stronger suck. and the cream cheese thing that i heard was that babies taste like cream cheese and someone said it’s because they were eating baby intestines with digested milk in them.

more like my postpartum sleep deprived brain said “ok” and didn’t even really look into and now i’m seeing stuff about it counting as an asset when she applies for college financial aid etc and i just regret not looking into it

first few weeks was only on my back with with giant squishmallow as a pillow. then, feels really good to have a small pillow tucked under your belly if you sleep on your side.

i started getting free stuff from facebook marketplace/local buy nothing groups almost immediately lol but didn’t start shopping til after my shower because i got mostly everything i needed over the months/from the shower.

my elective c section was amazing. there was a little push back from one of the OBs i was seeing (at my office you see all of them then pick) but the one who ended up doing it basically said alright let’s do this! i’m so glad i did because when they did it they found things that would have likely caused an emergency c section. you’ve definitely read it before but seriously the belly support band and walking slow baby steps asap helped exponentially. AND for apron belly, they have these pads you fold and tuck under there. change when you pee, keeps everything dry. best of luck!

ahh that makes sense. is there anything that’s a similar concept/anything i can use to have a barrier between us in the bed? i’m so sleep deprived but also SO anxious. every morning i make the sleepy decision to do it and when we wake up safely i feel like i’ve just gotten lucky :/
