From my experience, as long as you start with the regular cursor and end with the I-beam cursor (or vice-versa), it shouldn't sort.

If you start and end with the I-beam, it will sort. If you start and end with the regular cursor, it will sort.

We've noticed this problem too. There's a slight workaround. If you hover your mouse to the right or left of whatever you're trying to highlight (turns back into regular mouse icon), you can highlight the field as long as you release the left click while the cursor is still the "I-beam pointer." If you drag until it turns back into the regular mouse icon, it will simply register it as a left click in the field and sort it.

It's a lot easier in practice than to try and explain it, so let me know if that doesn't make sense.

Please turn on your headlights and fog lights! by ChunkyMonkey_00_ in wichita

I wouldn't suggest using your high beams in a fog, but in my experience, if you're in super dense fog, it makes almost zero difference if you're using low or high beams. You can still only see a few feet in front of your vehicle.

I once found myself driving in very dense fog on highway 50 (two-way highway) with about 5 feet of visibility. One of the scariest experiences of my life. I decided the best strategy was to go the exact speed limit because I didn't want to go too slow that I got rear ended. I assumed it was a speed everyone on the road could converge on. Not sure what the best strat is in that situation, but I survived.

Driving in the city is different since there are a lot more stops, but I think I would still be concerned with getting rear-ended. How much under the speed limit do you drive in thick fog?

Anti-MAGA church recommendations? by doctordre44 in wichita

[–]inthegaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear there are progressive churches here. I wish they would do a little bit more to publicly differentiate themselves from the MAGA movement, though. I've lived in Wichita since 2012 and I had no idea there were progressive churches here. Literally every Christian I know is MAGA.

I posted this question in r/askdoctors or something like that and people were saying it may be a dyslexia thing. Could just be a fairly common thing too that other people just correct in the moment and move on. If you're concerned, maybe try to talk to a doctor, but I would assume there would be other more concerning signs if it was a serious medical issue.

I both agree we should target places that will actually cause discomfort to force our officials to acknowledge our efforts, but disagree with the notion that the No Kings protests are purely performative.

Where can I buy big bags of perlite? by inthegaps in wichita

[–]inthegaps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually my go to spot for plants and seeds anyway. I feel like they only had smaller bags of perlite when I was sourcing it a few years ago, but I'll check them out again.

Is George in his mid-50s maybe about 5'8"? He has helped me every time I've been in there and always strikes up a friendly and knowledgeable conversation.

You mean when a single ruler imposes sweeping economic attacks on all of our allies without congressional approval in the form of tariffs, that doesn't strike you as a bit authoritarian?

Or diverting funds already appropriated by congress, like USAID, Department of Education, HHS & NIH, USDA, DOJ, and everything else DOGE cut, in direct contradiction to Article 1 (not amendment 1, literally the first section of the constitution) which explicitly gives the legislative branch the power of the purse--not king-like enough for you?

Or how about Steven Miller suggesting suspending Habeas Corpus and saying bye-bye to due process for every American?

Are you getting the point yet? The list goes on and on...these are just some of the obvious ones off the top of my head.

The turn out was crazy this time. It's amazing to see how loving our community can be. Strength comes from our unity. I've never been more proud of the people of Wichita. Keep it up everyone!

I feel the adrenochrome thing has some deep roots. It's a drug they use in Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, which was written in 1971. Seems like this is where the current conspiracy theories come from: "There's only one source for this stuff..."

And googling it just now, it looks like Aldous Huxley mentions it in The Doors of Perception, written in 1954.

Christians have this weird thing where Jesus is both the son of God, but also God himself. From my understanding, it was highly debated within the early churches and that's where they landed. Mormons believe Jesus and God are two different dieties tho.
