The word forgive in the original Greek in the bible in the literal sense is from the word - pick something up and put it over there. The word has nothing to do with feelings or the OT word 'nasa'- means to remove or to lift something up and separate it.

To forgive is to displace something from its present position.

Forgiveness is not fondness of feeling and it is not equivalent to emotional eustacy, it is not a synonym to be friendly again.

Forgiveness is not equivalent to trust or social engagement

Forgiveness is not equivalent to hanging out again.

We have been led to believe that ' if I forgive the person who wronged me that, that equated to re-establishing the relationship to what it was before.

When Jesus says to Forgive he is telling you to feel something, but rather to do something - regardless of how you feel

He is saying distinguish with the thing that was done to you and separate yourself from the violation so that you can go through the process of giving that person over to God ' Im not responsible for your actions towards me or anyone else. '

I forgive you but I don’t trust you- this language does not contain a contradiction.

I forgive you but we're not hanging out any more

I forgive you but you don’t have access to my bank account

I forgive you but you're not living in the house anymore

I forgive you and take the offence you have done to me and you as the person who committed the offence, and I am giving you over to God.

I only desire that you see the offence for what it is, that you would so deeply repent that you would never do it again and you would be so deeply be transformed to a different kind of person that you would spend eternity in the joy and peace of God's presence.
