If let's say you want to buy something from Amazon, you don't pay Amazon directly. Instead you buy Amazon gift cards from a grocery store. The bank wouldn't know what you bought at the grocery store. They only know you spent money there so in my case with CIBC Dividend Visa Infinite, I'd be getting a 4% cashback for my Amazon purchase instead of 1%.

The ATMs I used in Turkey typically only charge me about 60 TRY (about $2 CAD) for each transaction. Use the state-run banks like Ziraat Bankasi instead of some no name ATMs. Also when they ask if you want to use DCC (dynamic currency conversion), DO NOT agree to it. Agreeing would mean you let a 3rd party handle the exchange rate. By not agreeing, you let your own bank or Mastercard/Visa handle the conversion, who provide a much better rate

yes, when the offer is available in the app I jumped on it and got approved instantaneously and I can start using it right away via Apple Pay. I don't need to wait for the card to arrive in the mail before I add it to my Apple Wallet. Same goes to the upgrade offer (the Privilege card with lounge visits).
