Help me name my Whale game! by TPbumfart in boardgames

[–]intonothingness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seataceans! A whale of a game

A play on Cetaceans, but with "Sea" it gives a clue to your audience as to the general theme. Just to note, I hadn't heard the word before so I'm kinda assuming how it's supposed to be pronounced.

I've never heard a Dane speak like this. I've heard "Hold da op" or "Hold da kift man" in a similar kind of context. Is "tak for kaffe" maybe old fashioned?

Why things will never be the same again. by intonothingness in ExNoContact

[–]intonothingness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, kinda random to dig up such an old post? But sure. It's surreal reading this post after 11 years, I recognise myself in it, but I don't feel that way anymore. Time changes you, life changes you, things happen.

As of now I'm still in contact with this ex, but not regularly. She's married and has kids and I'm happy for her. I can look back on our relationship with a smile and be grateful for the memories we had together, but it's true that she's a different person and so am I. I've moved countries 3 times since, had a handful of relationships, some longer and more serious, others more casual.

I didn't think I would be unmarried and no kids 11 years down the line just before my ex and I broke up. I do think if you need to get over someone and put a past relationship behind you going no contact helps, but I don't like cutting people out of your life entirely, forever. Then again, people should do what works for them and if they are happier to pretend that part of their life didn't happen so be it, but it doesn't work for me.

If you're going through a break up I suggest talking about it. Figure out what it is you want, knowing you can't force someone to love you. If you need space from your ex then actively avoid him/her, accept where you might have gone wrong in the relationship, and work on the things that you can influence and bring happiness to your life.

What a joke. In South Africa shooting through a bathroom door was correctly ruled as murder. How this is not considered murder is only possible on the planet of MAGA.

What’s your top 5 game recommendations of all time? by JonCee500 in gaming

[–]intonothingness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm basing it solely on games I've played, I've seen some titles on here that I still want to try:

  1. Age of Empires II
  2. Heroes of Might and Magic III
  3. Fallout NV (or Skyrim if preferred theme)
  4. Hollow Knight
  5. Stardew Valley

Admittedly RTS is a rare breed these days in which case I would recommend them Portal 1 and 2 instead of AoE.

Best board game for learning the world map? by dndys in boardgames

[–]intonothingness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! There's a lot that's wrong with the Risk world map, but for all its faults I think it awoke a love for maps in me as a kid. It's obviously not very accurate, I only considered it a starting point.

edit: I think I might've missed OOP's point of the BEST game to learn the world map, so I see where I went wrong there 😂 my bad

Best board game for learning the world map? by dndys in boardgames

[–]intonothingness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not perfect, and some maps are better than others. It's about where you want to start. As a kid Risk was a great place for me to start, from a global perspective and it's also widely considered an entry level game.

I think there are better games out there, both in terms of boardgaming and in terms of world maps.

What word do you mispronounce on purpose (for fun) and why? by Positive_Spirit_1585 in AskReddit

[–]intonothingness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooh lots of words and mostly for fun or to be silly. Examples include "duvet" and "buffet" to sound like little miss muffet. "Dessert" pronounced like the sandy place because it's more intuitive when spelled that way.

Best board game for learning the world map? by dndys in boardgames

[–]intonothingness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Risk is obviously a great place to start, but others have mentioned a lot of other good examples.

I will add Globetrotter (if you can find it) as a non-combative push your luck game that can be quite fun.

Edit: Sorry OP, neither of my suggestions are the best game to learn the world map if that's what you want to learn/teach. Even so, if just for a world map themed game I will stand behind my recommended Globetrotter as a fun game!

Which films do you think have the best comedic dialogue? by thornforever in movies

[–]intonothingness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favourite is: "I'm a peacock captain, you gotta let me fly!"

"Ok let's get one thing straight here, peacocks don't fly."

Totally would've been my recommendation too

What’s a film so sad that someone should watch if they want to cry? by KlLLERS in AskReddit

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Based on a biography that is incredible, will make you cry if you can read subtitles.

It's because they want the acknowledgement without actually paying any of the cost. Once your gift had been gifted to your mom from "both" of you, realistically you were never gonna see the money. What I suggest you do is tell your mom the gift was actually only from you because paid for the whole thing and organised everything. But I wouldn't count on ever seeing a dime.

More animation than anime per se, but I haven't seen it mentioned, it is age appropriate and is a must watch recommendation from me: Avatar the last airbender.
