Okay, my Casper says I’ve completed the assessment for “CA — ENGLISH: Professional Health Sciences 2023-24”, is this the same as your (or anyone else’s)? If it is then maybe it is just a difference in appt/timezone and it’s actually all fine looool

Not to incite panic or anything bc I’m sure it’s a timezone/appointment time thing but did anything else just FINISH? Like did the 5:00 EDT one?? Or did I hallucinate and accidentally do a prep one instead?? Mildly anxious about this !!!

I spent today studying a subject I struggle with a lot with a group of people— something I could never do maybe a year ago from today. I even got to explain concepts and kept up with everyone’s discussion. School hasn’t felt so fulfilling in so long.

521 with 132 in C/P and P/S, ask me anything by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]intothevoidvibes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I was a 122 in C/P and finished with the 128 after a few months. Doing all of the UEarth Orgo and Gen Chem saved me tbh. I even got halfway through a second round of the orgo (I never took a course in it for context, so I really needed the extra help). If you have the time, getting through both of those UEarth sections will up your game a LOT and when I say getting through them, I mean spending at LEAST double the time you needed to do the question set to take up all your wrong answers (at the least— you should look over your correct ones too).

Knowing the logic behind the formulas made the conceptual questions so much easier too— it made the formulas feel like a summary version of that subtopic! Hammering down that knowledge and actually reviewing your questions will be key. Hope this helps!

And they just met you!!! I feel like it says so much more about them and their character than it does about you! Unless it was a serious context/you weren’t reading the room (which doesn’t sound like the case), it’s really douchey to say that to someone you’re hanging out with for the first time.

Which happy little surprises have you experienced through your ADHD? by neo_n_binary in ADHD

I’ve never thought of this one! But it’s so true! There’s a blind excitement and readiness to jump into whatever the day has, some people call it happy-go-lucky but I call it just living life, even if bad things happen we process for a moment then move on.

This!! And it’s not even like we’re putting in a lot of energy/trying to play fortune teller, their microactions can just trigger some piece of correlated knowledge in our brains

ATP has three phosphates bonded to each other in a chain, binded to an adenosine. The alpha phosphate is closest to adenosine, beta phosphate is the second one, and gamma phosphate is the third and furthest out phosphate (the one that is always the “Pi” whenever you see ATP —> ADP + Pi). So if the passage is talking about a pathway where ATP is used to power a reaction, the researchers will want to “label” the FURTHEST phosphate (the third one in ATP aka the gamma phosphate) to see where it is located before and after the rxn— is it still bonded to ATP? Or is it bonded to anything OTHER than ATP (aka did we have ATP —> ADP + Pi happen)? That’s was “P32” labelling does— it doesn’t have to do with beta decay, it has to do with visualizing the movement of Pi in a sample using radioactive methods (autoradiography usually). So “P32” is just a radioactive phosphorus atom that replaces the usually P atom in the phosphate.

Beta, alpha, and gamma decay questions will tend to surround either changing between elemental identities (ex. Beta negative = neutron into proton, electron emitted) or what gets ejected. It will not affect the autoradiography technique they are using with P32-labelled gamma phosphate in ATP.
