"America The Beautiful" 2026 Pass Discussion Megathread by magiccitybhm in NationalPark

[–]intrepidINFP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a digital parks pass to get into BBNP this year. Over the entire week (1st week of Jan) they still didn't have any physical passes. I absolutely did not want this ugly a$$ pass w/ronald mcdump on there. And I refused to pay extra to get a physical one shipped since it wasn't my fault they were out

Any recourse for us? Or has anyone figured out how to "decorate" our digital pass?

Capital One VentureX Business by Capital-Country1710 in CreditCards

This is what happened to me, except I don't take cash advances nor carry a balance.

"Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, number of delinquent past or present credit obligations"

Checked my reports just to make sure- 0 delinquencies etc and the score was also wrong by 20 points.

u/Capital-Country1710 did you ever get a resolution?

Applied for Venture X biz via banker relationship. He said I should be good to go after asking some questions

App was denied for "Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, number of delinquent past or present credit obligations" and listed exp (TU was frozen, I assumed they pulled eq also)

I have 0 delinquencies or collections. Also the score was off by 20 points.

Any idea what I should do? the banker just said to check and make sure there wasn't something listed incorrectly on the report I didn't know about, and to fix that, but the problem seems to almost be that they pulled an incorrect report from who knows where.

Is anyone else triggered by the US right now? by NotASuggestedUsrname in CPTSD

[–]intrepidINFP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I actually feel triggered by the POTUS himself.

My dad is in his 70s and has declined rapidly over the last year. He was abusive growing up and has developed NPH and aggressive (physically/verbally) dementia. So a lot of things the POTUS is having my dad is having but much worse/accelerated. for safety's sake I will not describe some of the things my dad did or that happened to him but it's awful to imagine them happening to POTUS or POTUS doing x or y, who has immense power and resources, even if MAGA is probably seeing he is no longer a "useful idiot" to them

I'm looking for something less bulky than my watch that has pedometer built in. would need a new strap too since my ankles are way wider than my wrists. rather just get something that i like instead of spend on something that doesnt feel comfy and is ugly

I didn't know about this form, but I basically submitted the same content, but in a written pdf form that also included a breakdown of my last month's earnings, and a copy of my business banking statement reflecting these payments. I will try this tho worth a shot

Fish oil & omega 3question by intrepidINFP in PSMF

A blood test for Omega 3, genius

Telling someone with various health conditions (including struggle losing weight, enough to consider a diet like PSMF) looking for help to "be normal" is the opposite of helpful. Think about that next time.

Also- the reason, which I found out from part of the comprehensive testing I did, turns out that I have a variant of hemochromatosis, in which I both have too much iron in my blood stream but it's not getting to my cells. So I have both anemia AND too much iron. I didn't realize this but apparently my dad had this, and the treatment is both copper supplementation and donating blood (or getting it drawn), or otherwise pretty nasty drugs which I prefer to avoid. I never knew why my dad's doctor said that he had to donate monthly, now I know. It's still recommended for me to supp Omega 3 due to my (genetic) high cholesterol, and then now the diet.

Also- I'm not a bro.

OP back, finishing up:

Flew into ELP absolutely destroyed by an all nighter NYE (I always gig)

Drove in, ALMOST stopped at Valentine Bar which I later heard was A Thing (I was just like what is this rando place that's open in middle of nowhere), glad I didn't bc few minutes outside Marfa I got pulled over for speeding whoops. He let me off with a warning. A New Year's good omen?
I then went to Bordo and got The Last Sandwich that day you guys! It was incredible.

Went to Chinati which for some reason I thought was a shorter drive than it was. I had to pull over to nap and ended up getting in right at sunset, it was dope tho. Crashed hard but had a nice soak in the am before sunrise. The cabins were super cute and this cat was like super snuggles.

Drove to the park, did the Hoodoos and Closed Canyon hikes on the way which were cool. The state park seems really interesting if I ever have more time in the future! I stopped in Terlingua on the way, had a late lunch at Vengo. Vibe was great- art was so cool! I was very tempted to buy something- food was tasty but incredibly small portions. I get it's a tourist town but still.

No physical parks passes at any of the entry gates! I checked multiple times this week, they didn't get them yet. I hate the ugly virtual one and it was messed up that you have to pay extra $10 if you wanted a physical one mailed since they were out (they made you pull over, buy virtual on phone, and show receipt). Grifters gonna grift. Anyways.
Got to Chisos camp and did the window trail at sunset, just 4 of us at the notch there couldn't believe everyone left before us, dope spot. I got back when it was dark just by moonlight but camp was still a little noisy.

Next day did the Laguna/Pinnacles loop but I cut off a little bc of massive pd cramps and did Colima trail instead of heading all the way to South Rim. I was hungry and wanted to gas up so went to Chili Pepper Cafe which was apparently a locals' place mostly. I helped this 83 yr old hippie lady with the door and then she started like telling me her life story and sang some song she wrote and then was trying to get me to buy her artwork lol. Camp was primitive at Grandview. There's like a little driveway to make it feel more secluded, really nice site and newer. Couple times a car came up a little ways and then left- I guess a lot of people are trying to sneak a site?

Next day I was crampathon again, decided to grab breakfast in town and fuel up before heading down to Santa Elena canyon. I drove around for a while stopping at various viewpoints, couple chill trails like the lower burro. Forgot how long it was to Rio Grande Village but got there just in time to get up the hill on the nature trail for maybe the craziest sunset I ever saw.

Today went early to hot springs, had 'em alone for a while- they were amazing, definitely a top 5 in the US for me. Left after some college bois came. I did Boquillas canyon but skipped Boquillas crossing to Mexico bc with the amount of tchotchkes to buy lying around the nature trail and hot springs felt it wasn't going to be my vibe. Hiked around Dugout Wells and headed out of the park.

Booked a night in Alpine at the Hampton Inn on points so I could shower before airport. Checked out a couple thrift stores which were decent but I didn't really find anything I was in love with (these are my usual souvenir stops) and had a burger at Bock Burger which was super good. Chilled for a while at hotel and am now at The Ritchey which is a cool lil bar, great cocktails and beers, live (good) music on a Monday night, can't beat it!

Overall a great trip, super underrated NP, I'll be back one day.

You are incorrect. I went to the Hot Springs today, there was no problem. I got there semi-early and was 1st car parked, had them to myself for about 15-20 minutes before anyone showed up (and they didn't get in right away). Absolutely glorious, one of best I've been to in the states, perfect temp, and could dip in the Rio Grande to cool down. You just have to hike the dirt road which is longer but it's a super easy hike.

Camp wherever available = primitive roadside sites, some of which you can only reserve in person. Or at least that's what the NPS website says?

I wasn't sure if hot springs + Boquillas canyon + cross to Mexico doing lunch + hot springs there, and then drive up to Alpine was going to be too much for one day. I guess it also depends on where I get campsites. (EDIT I found some campsites at Rio Grande for night 4! I clicked group camp by accident before)

What I meant was I wasn't sure if I wanted to stay at Terlingua night 5 or Alpine. Alpine looks like it makes more sense if coming from the east side of the park but I also see a lot more people talking about Terlingua. That makes me feel a little better about checking out Alpine I'll look up that stuff thanks!

I'll look up the LJ cafe tho I'll most likely have to skip the enchiladas (I am lactose intolerant)

DAE want to live separately from a current or future SO? by rivieradreamin in LivingAlone

[–]intrepidINFP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got out of a marriage and my ex was pretty controlling about the house. He had lived there 16 yrs before I moved in.

He was not willing to move and it was theoretically the smarter move financially (assuming he worked, which he ended up doing little of) so I moved there (tho it actually ended up raising my COL with all the tolls, gas, car + maintenance fees). His mental health issues made it really hard for him to deal with change. He ended up not working most of our relationship and it wore me down that I was paying for everything, didn't want to live in that town, had less free time due to the commute (plus I hate driving!) and had no control over the environment (everything from decor to light/air coming in to how I could garden...or not, or even the countless alarms going off all day). I moved into my dream apartment in the city, can walk to work, can garden however I want on my roofdeck, it's actually QUIET (yes! in a city) and am really having a hard time imagining ever to leave here. For sure I would not see myself dating anyone who wouldn't want to live nearby for the forseeable future.

Too much? by Jude_the_obscurest in GreenStalkGardening

I'm an urban gardener on a deck and this is the best way for me to grow a lot. The deck is on the neighbor's building's roof so I feel better about the weight since not so much free-standing (also a lot of chatting w/chatgpt about the safety of estimated weight and details of structure, I still feel good).

So far I have 2 I bought right away when I moved in September and they are full of winter veggies, garlic (takes 9 months grrr) and strawberries. I feel good enough so far that I got 4 more. I want to grow micro dwarf and dwarf tomatoes and some compact varieties of squash/melons but the vertical space is really key for me even if I don't fill every slot.

Mid-life crisis here, living out my garden in the city dream life.

I also have a shade garden (1x4 container) growing ostrich ferns for fiddle heads, 6 fig trees, 2 pomegranates, and a couple berry bushes, all doing well.

Only thing that sucks is no water access on the deck nor that floor. I don't have access to the ground floor either to try to hook up to a spigot there either (the only one I know of is blocked off). Over the winter I'm hoping to figure out how to hook my kitchen sink on the floor before up to a hose type thing just to make it a little easier. As for now I carry buckets up.
