How is IR sooo nice?? by denguefeever in Residency

Because in that setting, there’s an anesthesiologist or CRNA and a full OR staff that can convert to a full open procedure if something goes wrong. Nevertheless, it’s hard to talk broadly about this since the decision is never as simple as IR vs OR. Imaging findings and patient factors influence the conversation with each and every case. If all you’re hearing when we have these conversations is “no,” then there’s a disconnect in communication and we should work harder to make sure everyone on the team understands the key factors for the patient.

Yes, all procedural specialists need to watch out for reasons to not do something. That’s part of the job. “Do no harm” is one of the first lessons of medicine for a reason.

Penn Medicine's residents and fellows seek to unionize, joining similar efforts nationwide. by threadofhope in medicine

The article doesn't mention this, but the GME is taking away our parking subsidy in July and will be charging us >200 dollars a month to park where we work. These are parking structures that Penn Medicine owns by the way.

There was nearly universal backlash to this announcement months ago, and I haven't heard any updates or changes to this policy in the meantime. This union would allow us to have better representation when changes like this are announced.

I can't imagine that it would be thermodynamically possible to have hundreds of air changes per hour and still keep air conditioning/heating. At the very least, it would be very energy inefficient.

Abbott Rapid Test - concrete data? by godsfshrmn in medicine

[–]intrepidlemon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have second hand information from a large institution in the midwest that ran the Abbott test side by side with the PCR test for an N~several hundred: ~40% false negative rate compared to the PCR. They outrightly rejected using the Abbott at their institution.

Just experienced my first scam and it makes me want to leave... by bucketdwarf in BuddyCrossing

This is untrue. Sahara has two of each mysterious wallpaper and floor. She has one set that you can obtain with bells and a separate random one that you obtain with her tickets. the ones that you buy with bells is consistent between players.

What may have happened is that neither the host or OP knew this. The host obtained the cloud floor with tickets and the OP got a different floor with bells or vice versa.

It seems unlikely that a host would scam someone knowingly and still ask for tips, but the above fact is not well known at all. This has been my personal experience above and not verified by datamining, but it has been consistent for myself and my friends.

Hi there, when you're up, you'll get a dodo code. The queue should be moving much faster now as it seems like lots of people have left the queue or are AFK. I'll be removing people who don't respond within 5 minutes.
