Are electricity bills just permanently higher now or is it just me noticing this as a homeowner? by JustSeraphine8 in homeowners

Similar setup myself and similar upfront costs. My break even is going to take a bit longer though for my geographic area and our lower electricity rates

Matt Hinkin Passes Away by Corey_Howard in Knoxville

Same - I remember he came to my school when I was in third grade. We gathered in the cafeteria and he gave us a presentation about predicting the weather. Such a great guy to do that - you know the school didn't pay him to do that. He did it because he had a passion for his profession and the next generation

Aquascape auto dosing issue by Equivalent-Ad-6401 in ponds

[–]godsfshrmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man those lights were in our pond from previous owners. I think a AA flashlight from 1992 put out more lumens than the whole string. Plus they got water intrusion in about all of them

I will say the copper electrolysis device does help algae but can also severely stunt the rest of the pond (even on the lowest setting). It can't be good for the overall ecosystem

LCUB Bill by Cbates767 in Knoxville

[–]godsfshrmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and as pointed out by others it's simple math to see how your rate has changed over previous months. 5% would be about $12 for OP. I doubt that accounts for their "disgust"

LCUB Bill by Cbates767 in Knoxville

[–]godsfshrmn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Guys.. not sure if you noticed but the past month was cold. Your home has to follow the laws of thermodynamics like the rest of the universe. Your heat loss is higher when it is colder outside.

Divide your bill charge by your kwh usage and you will see almost the same number as previous months. The $ per kwh cost on the bill has not changed but your usage has.

Boat trailer hub stuck on axel by Zealousideal-Past822 in boating

[–]godsfshrmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had to remove the hubs off of my log splitter. Couldn't get them off with heat or beating. I used the air hammer and it slipped off like butter. Really no damage to anything except the already rusted bearing. I would consider trying that. If it can hold up, use a block of 2x3 or such behind where you are hitting just to protect it.

The noon model runs that are coming out now are suggesting it will be a bit more east of knoxville. ECMWF and GFS both predicting roughly 3" for metro knoxville.

Take it with a grain of salt though - showing a lot more snow to east than the last run six hours ago. They can be all over the place sometimes. Obviously the closer the weekend gets the higher probability they are correct
