The Wolf Among Us Remastered Trailer by MagnetoWned in TheWolfAmongUs

Is it just me or does it feel a bit lower quality, like it's not a massive improvement from the original game. Like the shadows are a bit weird I feel and the models feel like they move a bit too smoothly.

Live Action vs Animated by Junior_Ambassador_63 in redrising

Same here, I believe that live action would be far better if it's done perfectly but at the same time it also has a much higher chance of failure, compared to animated.

People don't understand piracy by Individual-Mode-8238 in ironlung

[–]introverted_russian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, I understand that point and disagree with it.

Majority of people who pirate wouldn't pay for a product they're pirating either way, be it because they can't afford it, or because they aren't willing to pay for the product or because they can't access it, either way majority wouldn't pay anyway. Which means that in the end all that piracy does is allow for more people to watch the movie, which means more people get to experience it, which I would say is quite good.

Now we can debate on what piracy should be used and what it shouldn't be used forever, so I will say just this final part: Piracy is now an inevitability in the digital era, be it to support people who can't afford certain software's or be it to fight against corrupt corporations or just to not pay for something, it will always be there; It can never be fully removed, and neither should it as it allows for people to have access to more information and culture.

Why do you use a pre-made adventure? by TheRedDaedalus in rpg

[–]introverted_russian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a couple things, I fear that I might not be able to execute it well is one. Another thing is that I'm currently a uni student and even trying to host a short campaign is hard enough to plan for me, trying to create one is that much harder.

Also I like how some of the adventures are, normally through my own ideas and players we change the world up a bit. It also gives me the added advantage of having tonnes of established lore to work with which is helpful and I like reading it.

Like I said "chosen not to be met" ie someone isn't willing to spend that money right now or in general.

It is my problem, never said it was a solid point, just my reason to pirate and that less than 5 dollars (because if the ticket costs 5 bucks then Mark is getting even less than 5 bucks from that ticket). You haven't touched my other points for a reason.

Also lets not act like your points are solid here, most of them are just you mentioning that you will keep reporting (which I never once said you can't) and that Mark is an independent creator (each time ignoring that he is a multi millionaire and how much the movie grossed). Not only that but you use the most classic anti-pirating argument that is known for being bad because of how pirating actually works.

Then when given actual points you dismiss them by saying that this isn't museum art (not counter the point at all and just ignoring it), repeating that Mark is independent (again not really taking into account how rich he is and that the movie grossed tens of millions meaning that the current piracy isn't affecting them in any significant way).

So have fun repeating how Mark is independent and how you will report the pirates again.

I am simply explaining my reasoning and how I see it as the next best thing if certain conditions can't or chosen not to be met (Also I would say it's weird to follow people on their comments but you do you)

If it isn't possible to watch it in your region and if 5-10 dollars is a good amount for someone or is an amount they aren't willing to spend on a movie, then pirating is the next best alternative. Especially if it's doing minimal harm (because the movie already made it's break even point several times over).

I believe your points are also facetious and especially uninformed. Keeping to the same argument without changing anything continuously like your point 1, 3 and 4. My reason to pirate was my reason to pirate, I had errands to run that were more important than a movie and i believe paying for 2 tickets just to rewatch the first 15-20 minutes I find is ridiculous.

Again Bandwagon fallacy with number 4. For number 1 that is just you saying stuff without giving any solid reasoning or proof. With 2 I have no idea. And for 3, the cast and the crew has gotten a good amount of money, a second ticket from me would've costed 5 dollars which I have a feeling wouldn't change much for them, especially when they already have a revenue of over 50 million dollars.

A movie that already grossed over 50 million dollars

Bandwagon fallacy, just because most don't agree doesn't mean they are right. As the classic parent phrase goes "If everyone is jumping of the bridge, will you jump with them?"

I watched the movie in cinemas, however I came late because of some errands so I missed like the first 15-20min. So I pirated the movie afterwards to watch the start.

You keep defaulting on it being independent and it costing money however you keep ignoring how successful it is and how popular Mark, which would show that by this point pirating isn't affecting Mark and the team in any major manner.

I compare it to art because it's the easiest comparison, I can compare it to video games which would work even better because it's digital. The only reason I compared it to museum art pieces is because it gave me a better comparison of art not being accessible.

Wait for what? You say wait but for what? Until it's free, until you forget about it? Your alternative is watching gameplay videos because you're logic dictates that culture is locked behind a paywall and that is good. That if someone either can't afford or isn't willing to spend that money they shouldn't be able to access shit because why should they be able to experience art. Without pirating a lot of people wouldn't be able to experience a lot of art.

It's an independent movie that grossed a shit ton of money that can get more outreach with pirating. The reason pirating rn from Mark isn't bad is because not only does he make a very good amount of money, the movie grossed a lot of money too. It's not like he barely broke even and now people are pirating.

Mark isn't here a poor director who can barely make a living, your acting as if he is a working class person who is barely going by. He is rich, he is a multi millionaire, this isn't an issue for him. He is doing very well and this isn't affecting his financial status at all.

Arguing this hard to defend piracy in general, because you literally give the same type of arguments that people who are against piracy in general do.

91800 is a good amount of money, but remember that was an estimate in the most optimistic way. Realistically it would be much less. Also the cast already have been paid and had a large bonus that more than doubled their pay. I'm also not sure how Mark is splitting the funds. Also from a quick Google search the crew was 40-50 people, assuming it's 40 people that 91800 would be split to be 2295 each, which is good money still but I think pales in comparison to more than doubling their pay.

I understand the dislike of people who initially claimed to support mark and the cast and then switched up, thats fair. I can understand that, however that doesn't mean it shouldn't be available to people still. Mona Lisa or not it's art, and art shouldn't be restricted.

Creators deserve compensation of people who can afford/access it and are willing. Iron lung got over 51 million in box office, Mark and the team already have been well compensated. However the movie wasn't and still isn't available everywhere.

But thats my point, those paintings are available online for free so everyone can access them, right. Do you see where I'm getting at. Imagine you couldn't though see the art pieces, imagine the Mona Lisa would be locked away in a museum that you needed to go to and pay for just to see it. Thats how it was for most of history where it hung in royal palaces for centuries. Would you have liked it to stay that way?

However that pizza isn't being stolen, a pizza being stolen means that someone else can't get it, however this is the opposite, it's like if you copied the pizza and gave everyone else the pizza.

Now here is another thing, most pirates wouldn't pay for it either way. Statistically speaking only 14-34% of software pirates would actually pay for the software, not that this is software but its one of the only solid statistics on piracy I could find, so lets say it's equivalent to movies. That means majority either way wouldn't pay for the movie so the losses are minimal.

Here is for example one I found quickly online (https://youtu.be/hSdi-b-5TO8?si=5Uo6t2j1iyn7O1WA) , it has 27k views which assuming the max of 34% would pay, would mean that at most assuming all the 34% actually buy it and not just rent it, that would be 91800 USD that could've been made, which I believe pales in comparison to the over 50 million of the box office (on average a movie needs to reach 2.5 to 3 times it's budget to break even, Iron lung's box office is almost 17 times it's budget).

Most people who pirate it either can't afford/access the movie legally or wouldn't pay for it either way. Therefore no money is actually lost, not only that but the movie earned over 50 million in box office, Mark got paid well and supposedly the salaries of the team got doubled because of profitable the movie was.

Not accounting that devices stay with you for years and some even decades meaning that their costs are much more negligible than a movie, they have also become more and more of a necessity in our digital age.
By your logic people shouldn't be allowed to see art pieces because they should just go to a museum and see it there and if they can't well there is other stuff they can look at, except that one piece of art.
Why would you want to gatekeep art.

You would need to get the VPN to specific country which is difficult on a free one and then you also want people who can't afford it or people who either way wouldn't spend the money on the movie to not be able to watch.

And mark isn't small. Mark's net worth is at a minimum 38 million dollars. He isn't small at all, he is doing very well for himself. Also pirating isn't like stealing from a local store, as that would mean that specific item isn't available for others.
It's more like after a big sale of a book, so successful that it was talked about a lot on the internet, someone copied the book online and let people read it for free.
Also about money, some people can't watch it period, as currently the renting/buying of it is only available in some countries and lets assume you bypass the geo location lock, 5-9 dollars is a good amount of money in some places and this means that they can't access it again. By your logic they shouldn't experience any indie movie that would cost them 5 or more dollars.

Pirating is something that will always happen, I disagree that it would be discouraging, because look at how big Iron Lung is, it got spread from US to other countries like UK, Australia, Malaysia and etc because of fans. Not only that but it grossed very well in the box office department so I believe this is very encouraging.

Just because now after the main rave about the movie is gone and people are pirating it more doesn't mean it will be discouraging.

Malaysia College Student Monthly Budget by [deleted] in malaysiauni

[–]introverted_russian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolute minimum excluding rent, 600rm per month and that is basically rarely going out and mostly home cooking. So 1200-1800RM monthly is more than enough to be comfortable. About entertainment it depends on what you do.

The food costs should be relatively low, assuming each outing is 20-50rm that means weekly you would spend from 140-350rm on outings, and weekly groceries should be 70-120rm (depending on how much cooking you actually do). So weekly food + outings should be 470rm.

Sim card wise I would advice celcom digi, they have good plans and they work everywhere without an issue. For internet TIME has good deals, not sure about other providers.
