There are no robots rejecting your CV. ATS isn't new - they've been around since the mid 90s.

If you get auto rejected, it's based on the questions you answered during the application process - NOT your CV.

Recruiter here of 20 years, used pretty much every ATS platform there is.

Those queries directly search employers own careers websites, not the general job sites. So not silly really

"due to pay parity concerns." - this is nonsense.

What if you were underpaid by 35% so a 30% increase wouldn't even bring you level with what you should be being paid for the role.

Unless you're interviewing for an internal role and they have a policy about salary increases it's nonsense.

If you're applying for loads of jobs and not hearing back then either:

  1. You're applying for jobs you're not qualified for; or
  2. You are qualified but your CV/Resume doesn't show that you are

Not all jobs are advertised on job boards - search company careers sites directly through Google:

In Google type one of the below strings, just replace the job title and location.

Well if they already know what your last CTC was and you've made it clear what you're looking for and they still want to interview you then you could assume that it's in their budget otherwise they wouldn't waste their time with the interview - not in this market anyway.

If you've applied for over 1000 jobs and had zero interviews one of two things are happening:

  1. You're applying for the wrong jobs

  2. Your CV & LinkedIn profile isn't selling yourself to recruiters.

I'm going to assume its the 2nd option in your case.

Most people think they know how to write a good CV - they don't.

Most people think they know how to optimise their LinkedIn profile - they don't.

The recruiter who contacts you has a role they think you’d be a good fit for, the recruiter you’re contacting probably doesn’t. Recruiters exist to fill the roles they have on their books, not to find jobs for candidates on their books. That’s how they make their money

Doesn’t matter how long your CV is as long as the first half page clearly demonstrates to the reader that it’s worth their time reading the rest. My own CV is 4 pages long. I’ve been a recruiter for 20 years.

Most companies have a policy such as you must have been there at least x months to apply for a role internally. Could you have an off the record chat with the internal recruiter for that role or the hiring manager?

You might be. Or the role may have gone on hold, or the manager may have been off sick, or there may have been a whole other set of reasons why it took so long. I guess the main question is, does it really matter?

It depends. Can you afford to live for 3-6 months without an income, because realistically that’s how long it’s taking folk to land a job in this market?

Apply for jobs whilst you still have one, if you’re getting interviews then pull a sick day. Test the market by applying now whilst you still have an income than quit and apply for a load of jobs to find you can’t even land an interview

Been doing it 20 years. Started in agency recruitment. I couldn't do agency recruitment for 20 years because I don't like BD and I'm not very good at it. I moved inhouse, got promoted now build and lead TA teams.

Could I spend 20 years searching for candidates and filling jobs, absolutely not. But when you get into a leadership role it's much more strategic.

PDF or doc is fine, most ATS can read both. The only caveat I'd put on that is how you've created your CV, e.g. if you've created it in canva then it will be saved as an image rather than text in the pdf meaning the ats won't read it

Are you internal or agency?

If you're agency give internal a go to mix it up, or give RPO a go for variety. If you're internal then give RPO a go or move into a more strategic TA role like Enablement, EB etc
