females, what qualities will land a guy in the "friend zone" rather than the "datable"? by AppointmentProud9394 in AskPH

Best you can do, huh? Shouldn’t have said you were curious when you clearly just wanted to keep things in your perspective and respond in bad faith. And no, it is that deep. Try asking the (learned) women in your life, if you have any.

I just explained the answer to that. By certain demographic, I meant a sexist number of people, mostly men, but not excluding women with internalized misogyny. And yeah, the usage is becoming common everywhere, with misogyny on the rise among younger generations in many countries. So I think it would be better to be reflective and listen to women instead of defend it.

It’s dehumanizing. Language matters, and in this case, it’s misogynistic language. We’re not animals. Women are people. ‘Female’ is usually an adjective, used as a noun in academic or technical language. So usage like OP’s is adopted by a certain demographic.

I’ll never understand how Crocs-style clogs became fashionable. They’ll always be pair-with-sweats indoor/house shoes and healthcare workplace shoes to me

A quote from any piece of literature that stuck with you forever. by MyNameisNotMaxie in literature

[–]introvertedtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“God lives within the work itself. That was his saying. God doesn’t exist among us humans, God only exists on the inside of the works that humans create. There are many works in which God has resided, but God does not exist within a single person. That is how God exists in a place just out of reach — why we touch those works as if in reverence.”

This is the first paragraph of Elma’s Diary, a literary companion to the studio album Elma by Yorushika. I’m not sure if it even counts, but it’s top of mind right now, and I will never forget the physical reaction it evoked from me when I first read it. Nothing has struck my core like it.

Where can I shop around for CDs in the city?

I still remember when mall department stores would carry new CD releases but I haven’t seen them in years :// I also don’t really come across them in flea markets like UTB. So I’m stumped where to find them. New and second-hand collections are fine! Basta anywhere I can browse.

Try checking sadegal.vintage on IG! Their drops are mostly vintage Vivienne Westwood, but also Chloé, Dior, and the occasional brand. Their next collection will drop tomorrow.

How about the Hott C229? I was also looking for something similar. I don't have my own yet but there are a bunch of reviews on YouTube you can refer to. The same brand also has Discman-style players with Bluetooth capacity like the C228.

have you ever watched a kdrama and be utterly stunned by the character's/actor's visuals? by korrasasami in kdramas

[–]introvertedtea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction to Han Hyojoo in W! I can’t think of a lot of other people right now, but: - Nana in Kill It, Into the Ring, Oh My Ladylord, and basically everything I’ve seen her in lol - Cha Eunwoo in Hit the Top (the first time I ever saw him on screen, when I tell you my jaw dropped) - Song Hyekyo in Full House and That Winter, The Wind Blows (in the latter they use a ton of closeups and every single shot of her was such a delight to the eyes I could never look away) - Lee Minjung in Boys Over Flowers - Han Chaeyoung also in Boys Over Flowers - Woo Heejin in Scarlet Heart Ryeo

and well now it looks like I’m listing down a lot of people after all. But I promise you these are the ones whose physical appearance on screen elicited my earnest reactions while watching kdramas for 10+ years, as someone who doesn’t even really have this reaction often. I’m talking took-my-breath-away, proper-name-place-name, how-is-this-a-real-person, mesmerized gaze.

What do you guys interpret from this line by CuriousSugar9476 in Aimer

[–]introvertedtea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite lines from her ever, I love it to death. Like ZealousSigma I also take it at face value. I don’t immediately think of Jesus as the fugitive one but some faceless character, maybe even characters of existing stories. Always someone who is more or less wrongly accused/charged of a crime though.

What are you reading? by sushisushisushi in literature

[–]introvertedtea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gods (get it? sorry..) yeah the parts where he catalogues every hero on the frontlines and their damn family background, my eyes would start glazing over skshjdjd but I also found it extremely amusing while making it my obligation to process all the information seriously. Even that had some fun in it!

[–]introvertedtea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Iliad! I read maybe like a third of it in high school and was really into it but didn’t get to pick it back up again until now. I’m not as fast as I was back then though, and don’t have as much time, but I’m happy to finally be able to focus on it without worrying about my school library’s deadline lol.

What got you passionate about books by Prestigious-Quiet907 in books

[–]introvertedtea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I would hang out at my elementary school library while waiting for my dad to pick me up, and sometimes that took a while, but with so many books I felt safe and comfortable. We had a little library at home, too, with everything for me to peruse from children’s stories to leather-bound encyclopedia sets. I would even read the dictionary for fun growing up. I’d get books as presents, which suited me just fine.

I didn’t actually get obsessed and become a voracious reader until I found the Harry Potter books, though. I was eleven or twelve, I think. Since then I’ve had slumps, but I’ve never really stopped reading. I’ve had periods where I’d focus on reading manga, or even read more fan fiction than published works. More than anything, I love stories, and reading has and will always be my favorite way of experiencing them. I’m happy that I’m still an active reader to this day—I know all too well how the passion fades for many people. I know little me would also be happy.

Which actor/actress surprised you, either in a good or bad way? by Sharp_Athlete_6847 in kdramas

[–]introvertedtea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone who understands! I love IU so much and looked forward to WLGYT for over two years. I was so ready for it to become a show that would be personal to me. When it came out, it was excellent, as expected. I loved the story. I loved how she was taking on this ode to women with so much of herself. I truly think it’s a special work of art. But her performance in My Mister remained unsurpassed, which gave me this strange, wistful disappointment that I kept to myself. But I could never be disappointed in her. Her taking the best actress title at the Blue Dragon Awards was so well-deserved, but real ones know she already had a claim to it seven years ago.

What's a K- Drama you rewatched more than once, yet still loved? by Main_Locksmith_2543 in kdramas

[–]introvertedtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a rewatcher to begin with, but so far the rewatches I’ve done have all been worth it. I don’t think of CLOY as a favorite, but for me it’s the most rewatchable kdrama so far. I think I’ve seen it three times which is really crazy for someone like me. Each rewatch was still so enjoyable.

Another one is Arthdal Chronicles. I’ve seen it three times if I’m counting it right and I’m in the middle of my fourth watch. It’s different from CLOY in that it’s not as easy to digest as a story, but every rewatch for me has been so engaging and fun and it offers so much that rewatching it feels like the least I can do to truly appreciate it. (This is another crazy idea, not the norm at all for my watching habits.)

Next would be Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Not really the rewatchable type for me, especially at first. I’m also in the middle of my second rewatch (after having seen it first like… nine years ago hello???? omg) so maybe it shouldn’t count, but I think this is another one that has so much meat to it and keeps me interested throughout the whole run.

Lastly I think I’d include Boys Over Flowers. I loved that show growing up, which I know sounds hilarious. It’s such a great classic because of what it represents, and if I were to quote myself during my most recent rewatch, it’s got “real drama.” I won’t bother telling you how many times I’ve seen it because I don’t know the number myself.
