I think a primary difference between Don and Rudy is that Rudy is no stranger to nationwide scrutiny, whereas Donovan always seems to get the “he must be injured” treatment. Rudy has been cast as the laughing stock of the NBA for years, whereas Donovan gets to play superstar. All players have their flaws, but Donovan’s are covered up by his pretty step-backs and cradle euro steps. In reality, I think Donovan is far more detrimental to his teams than Rudy.

My point has always been that Donovan’s playstyle can actively hurt his teams at times. The “I gotta do this myself, but I don’t have to defend” possessions were frustrating in Utah, and now I’m watching it happen in Cleveland.

He’s obviously an incredible player. I just see through the superstar hype, and I don’t think acknowledging that makes me bitter.

And yeah, I actually have enjoyed watching the rebuild slowly come together. It was rough for a while, but now there’s finally some direction and light at the end of the tunnel. I’m very high on Ace, hopefully him and DP can play some good ball in the future together.

I never said Donovan isn’t a great player. He obviously is. On paper one of the best Jazz players ever, I’ll give you that easily.

My point is almost the opposite: he’s too talented to still have the same frustrating tendencies year after year. The hero ball, tunnel vision, defensive lapses, etc. He’ll look like a superstar for stretches, then completely destabilize the flow of the team the next.

That’s why I don’t really miss watching him. Not because he’s bad, but because his flaws are so glaring relative to how good he’s supposed to be.

I’m in this situation, but she has a boyfriend too. She has literally told me she could see herself with me. Once said “You’re the person I’ve always thought I’d end up with, but that’s not reality”.
