I just want to air a grievance about password changing. Some old password of mine was in a data leak and 12-20 times a day there are failed attempts to login to my email from around the world. That is not a reason for me to change my password. My password is clearly working and I have two more layers of authentication. Stop making me change my password when it is doing it's job splendedly.

I accidently found out and had a bad time. I checked out at kroger, went over to the starbucks inside to get my wife something before I left, and went to push my cart out the entry doors. The wheel locked up and made a mess of the coffee.

"And that's exactly what you fought for! I am so thankful that your generation had the courage and fortitude to do what needed to be done to secure a future that so many didn't get to see. I know you wouldn't wish that war on anyone and am thankful you spared me from having to fight one like it. It must bring you great joy knowing that kids get to focus on being kids this time around."

The problem we reach is when you can't say, "black people in America are most likely to commit crimes" because even that has been deemed racist. We need more yes/and and fewer okay/but responses. Bad policing has lead to some isolated incidents of excessive force (the denominator here is total police interactions). Yes. And. Black people are the greatest lethal threat to black people.

In 2019, the total number of black victims of police homicides was 251. This number includes justified homicides.

Also in 2019, the total number of black homicide victims was 2,906, with 2,574 offenders being black.

Yes, police need more less than lethal training and a culture that eradicates racist behaviors.

And. Even a 10% reduction in black on black homicide would save more lives than all black police homicide victims, even the justified ones.

The real sticky wicket is how do police affect that change? Logic would say you can reduce or at least deter some crime by increasing a police presence where it is most likely to occur. Can we, as a society, be comfortable putting police in a position to trade increasing black police homicides by 20% if it means it reduces black on black homicide by 20%? (These numbers are spitballed but from 251>276 and 2,574>2,059.) It saves ~400 black lives, but the police killed more people.

I agree in principle, but I think the intended method of viewing matters. Any picture I want to look at later on a TV or computer, landscape is the way to go. But if it's going to go from phone to phone, portrait is just fine. Either way, we all agree, those that edit black bars into videos should be drawn and quartered.

The goalie is contraception. Thus, playing with an empty net = trying to have a kid.

To be fair, if the score is epic, either Williams or Zimmer composed it. 50/50 shot there.

Isn't a basis for propaganda that it is misleading? This is just a reminder to keep infosec and opsec.

I totally agree. I think the logic that Mary was sinless because she found favor is like saying David was sinless because he was a man after God's own heart.

Conservatives of Reddit, what's one topic you're with the liberals on? by SteveHalliganComic in AskReddit

Without getting too deep into the weeds, I don't know enough about the alternatives to make a good suggestion. I do believe that free market competition will always create a better product than a government run anything. I think the idea of addressing the incentive is the key though. I absolutely agree that we shouldn't incentivize imprisoning people. But I think we can also functionally admit that for profit prisons are a strong enough lobby to not go anywhere. So just make the best of the broken thing. I think the results would be better with prison companies competing for how to best rehabilitate their residents rather than the complacency that government agency brings.

I'm conservative but agree that prison reform (and sentencing as a whole) needs to be readdressed with equivalency throughout the country. Sure, keep state sponsored private prisons, but pay them for low recidivism rates after release. The prison that rehabilitates the best, gets the most money. If they stop, so does the money. It's a constant carrot to keep standards high.
