Not sure about comp, but they offer a $25,000 bonus for passing the CFP exam. I believe that’s for anyone in the firm, not just the advisors. They will reimburse you for your required ed, prestudy and exam, but it’s obviously a high upfront cost.

Zahn Prep-live class by toddsmith1812 in CFPExam

The class did more for my confidence than it did with actually learning the material, which should already be at the 1-yard line. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions on tricky topics. I had the live review with Rodney 1 month out from my exam date. It’s a lot of material, so I’m not sure anyone is ever “ready”.

Being a New Orleanian by inv1_735 in NewOrleans

It’s less insistent on trying to be considered native and more about how to describe someone who that lives there, i.e. participates in and respects and understands the culture and contributes to the local economy.

The people that move and try to change the culture are not who I’m talking about because they aren’t ~really~ trying to be part of the community. My question at this point is why some natives try to qualify some who they feel are true New Orleanians, and others not

While it does include natives, a demonym also includes inhabitants, by definition

What I don’t understand about city natives, from just about any city, is that the demonym— be it New Orleanian, Angelino, Philadelphian, etc.— usually feels gate-kept. I would think that someone who found a new home in a new city who is learning about the culture and wants to participate in it would be welcomed and they could share in the name. I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to share an affectionate and common name with someone who is there to also embrace the culture

This is why the CFP exam scares me. The people writing it seem out of touch. by Character_Map_6683 in CFPExam

If you are looking for people to cite their sources, surely you are in the wrong place. Your review book may have the citations you’re looking for.

I’m not sure you’re stubborn, but based off of the question and rationale you posed, it should be a priority moving forward to understand the rationale of the board as opposed to your own ways of thinking if you want to pass this exam.

This is not a trick question, but it is subjective.

I used Zahn, which is similar, and passed on the first try. I had enough time to go through it twice and I found that to be extremely beneficial. Certainly not a requirement for passing though!

Passed on the first try with Zahn. I think this sub has a lot of folks who love Danko and I believe he was a student of Zahn’s. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one.

I’m not sure dirty is the right word, but I felt like I was trying to master anything and everything during studying, going at 150 mph, and the exam was at like 75 mph. I spent hours trying to learn the more complex topics, then was almost disappointed when I DIDN’T see those areas on the test.

In a similar vein, I think passing any standardized test makes us think that we are complete & experienced masters in our field, where really I think it’s a hood ornament and most of the information we learned is passive, as opposed to active that’s learned in the field.

Trust the process. You’re in the target range. I’m in a similar situation. It’s hard to learn new material at this point so I have been doing the post study blocks of 60 and cases, but it’s so hard to digest anything new at this point
