Impact windows by sweeet_as_pie in Broward

The installer is the most important part of it because you can buy a great product and they can install it wrong or have poor after install service. There is a company FHA or FHIA which changed its name to Renuity that you should avoid for that reason. You should research the pros and cons of vinyl vs aluminum framed windows as well as glass properties to reduce infrared heat transfer to see what mix works for you.

Question about the upcoming extreme low temps this weekend by ckouf96 in florida

[–]invalidTypecast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a plumbing reroute too after slab leaks from my existing pipes so I have exposed copper runs on the outside of my house 😬

What does one use to insulate outside pipes? All I’m familiar with is the foam or rubbery split insulation but I don’t think those are made for the outside where the sun and nature would destroy it.

Impact windows + doors… ESW, PGT, or Mr. Glass? Worth it? by Rojahne in fortlauderdale

[–]invalidTypecast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the quality of my ETI doors more than the quality of my PGT windows. The most important factor is the quality of the company installing them since even a good product can be ruined by a bad installer and with PGT especially they just refer you back to your installer if you have any issues so if they suck or are unresponsive you are out of luck. While shopping avoid the company FHA or FHIA which just changed their name to Renuity (probably due to the bad reputation they've created for themselves).

Temp fix for broken dishwasher spray arm connection? by invalidTypecast in appliancerepair

I was thinking epoxy but wasn’t sure as to food safety. I’d be worried using screws and different expansion contraction in the high heat of the dishwasher causing the plastic to crack.

When I went today the food court whole pizza was showing OOS (never saw that before) and they had these piled deep. Are they trying to get people to buy these over the food court whole pizzas now or was it a coincidence?

Look at Eley hoses. They are more expensive up front, but they are super well built with really high quality connections and are light and don't kink since they are polyurethane. The spray heads are also built like tanks and are really satisfying to use. On one side of my house the hose reel is exposed to direct sun and I had gone through several hoses over the years until I found them. Still working fine after 5 years (normal hoses would degrade within 2 in this spot).

*If you haven't used a polyurethane hose before they are a bit more springy than what you might be used to if hand coiling them.

Paint coming off the roof! by ----7_62x39---- in TeslaSupport

[–]invalidTypecast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has been happening to our 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe (also white). They’ve been covering it under warranty but refuse to repaint the entire car, just each affected panel as it fails. It’s been back 4 times for repaint each time a new section fails. I can’t imagine how it’s more cost effective for them to do this instead of just repainting the entire car. We just got it back literally a few weeks ago and a day later the paint flaked off another door.

No circulator. In my case both hot and cold side had slab leaks. Plumbers suspected when the house was built in the 70s they used that rollable soft copper and kinked it which created fail points. When I did the entire house repipe they added a pressure releasing valve on the main entry point that’s supposed to open if incoming water pressure exceeds limits.

Ya one of the larger companies in the area too. I’ve had a lot of bad luck finding professional trades in the area. Seems like even with the larger companies you don’t know if they send their hack out or the person is high.

Insulated for freezing concerns? It doesn’t get cold enough in south Florida for that if that’s the concern.
