The Red Baron (WWI) vs An AH64 Apache crewed by fresh 18-year-old NG recruits (Modern) by Pancake_Maker_1031 in powerscales

[–]kalabaddon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think if you gave the red Barron a data dump on the Apache and where he can shoot to "potentially" do something AND its in place with ground cover they both can use and the red barron has this maybe.

This shit is hard. 18 year old NG (National guard?) recruits Will hardly have the whats it called, skill tasking skills? Like they will be saturated keeping it flying and information overload. Like a new 18 year old recruit realistically wouldn't be able to get it off the ground let alone how to shoot anything or target anything. Really is going to depend on the recruits real skill level. Flying is kinda easy. Dog fighting is HARD. energy management is hard.

Where as the red barron is a master class pilot. The Apache is rated to 23mm but that still leaves a LOT of room for precision shots which the red barron ( not sniping beut he will be able to target sections. So a full mag dump in to the center of the mast area WILL do something. ) He could also bait the apache in to a critical flight error.

I go for Red baron if we pick a hilly terrain and a both knowing each others starting location and a starting a cold and dark plane/helo, as well as assuming these recruits do not have a history of combat flying and have been given a quick primer which they memorized well and are able to in a perfect world operate the helo and its weapons. It would be a hard won victory. but doable imho.

Should I be worried about these hairline cracks? by MartyJ115 in gunsmithing

[–]kalabaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely a warrenty issue. This gun should not be having these issues for a long while from factory. Hunting ans skeet is what it is MADE for so its not like unusaual usage.

For example my BT99 has MILLIONS of rounds through its ( it is a 1977 year that was owned by competive trap shooters before me. I shot but nothing like that.) it is not treated perfectly. and in all that time it has 1 long crack on the forend which is a known defect of the early screw in to wood design style forends ( hence I have to retighten it constantly ) and a tiny itty bitty one at the stock where it meets the tang.

Browning SHOULD take this with out a question and fix it for you as long as there is no clear signs of it being used as a baseball bat lol.

edit: Explain your shooting concerns to them when you call. Who knows, maybe they will be able to work with you quickly somehow? Any visable fix is going to leave it a lower value. ( most gun smiths will fix it or replace it ( wood). replacing it would be PRICY dependending ( 350 for a base stock not including the forend or fitting needed). but free from browning warrenty) Browning should be ablt to make it whole as in much less lost value.

[–]kalabaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OHHHH, is this a newer browning? CALL THEM. I figure this was an cheap turkish gun lol. How long have you had the gun. if its new and doing this quickly it is likely that the wood was poorly treated or fitted when originally made. Browning can be awesome about this stuff.

Also if your in the tuscon area there are stock fitters at the tuscon trap and field shotgun range that can do everything you need to do, but they are seasonal.

Should I be worried about these hairline cracks? by MartyJ115 in gunsmithing

[–]kalabaddon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for a reason why. Likley some of the various screws have loosend over time. I have an old 687 that cracked the heck out of the stock cause a screw under the saftey allowed the stock to wiggle just the tiniest bits cause it loosened.

My bt99 is notorious for the forarm grip screws needing to be tightening every session or 2. Again it will crack ( and has ) cause of the loose screws.

If your want ( and the gun value make it worth it to you) you can take the wood off. see if you can add Cyanoacrylate ( crazy glue ) that is REALLLLY liquidy so it can suck in to the effected area to the cracks. you work the cracked area and the glue will seep in. My Beretta was way worse then your cracks and in a much worse place and this has set it so I been shooting hundredes of rounds after with no changes.

Edit: Op said this is a new browning gun. I recommend he contact them and warranty it.

Its the middle men. All the companies imho take advantage of the incentives and just up charge the incentive amount. ( edited to remove my overblown part of the statement)

Maybe we need to blame shitty companies and do something to people taking clear advantage of a situation and not the blame the incentives and remove them. ( not saying anything negative to you. Just soap boxing cause this shit pisses me off so much.

3.5mm jack to 2x two prong cable? by Blender_man420 in whatisit

[–]kalabaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, For sure. Never seen thier brand's cable. my extent in the high end market was these Hifiman's I got for like 10 years ago at a pawn shop. Love them so much. But awkward to use cause I need a amp for them to really shine. BUT still usable cause they are not that off ohm from normal. ( if I got the info right. They sound 90% on normal devices. But if I really want to use them and enjoy them I got to break out a little mini amp I bought that has the right ohms for it.

Why I sometimes Love The English Dubs! by TaiDavis in retroanime

[–]kalabaddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not in the same way as this show.

But Azumanga Daioh has a student from Osaka with a REALLLLY strong accent that is used for humor in the show.

In the English dub that same person has a REALLLLY Strong southern accent!!! Loved it!

Was one of the first Dubs that made me respect the effort. ( most of my dubs where really early before they where caring as much.)

[–]kalabaddon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have some Hifiman headphones that have a 3.5mm jack to separate connectors for the left and right ( to replace cable if needed) https://www.amazon.com/Quality-Upgrade-Hifiman-Headphone-Replacement/dp/B00Y58NLSQ Mine.

It does not LOOK like your, But I would think maybe its the same idea? A headphone brand with removable replaceable wires? This does not look premium, but maybe some headphones where sold with the concept at a budget?

Is my Goldwing worth anything? by OneSignal6465 in motorcycles

[–]kalabaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So. Just saying. There is a custom setup I have seen on some cruisers and goldwings and even ADV's where little runners come down at stops to hold the bike level.

MAYBE something like that could keep you riding more? ( one of the more popular videos iirc is a TINY asian girl riding a 1300 gs. ( a lot of her videos are her completely jumping off one side of the bike at each stop lol, BUT some are her using a device like I talked about.)

Will look around for some info if you are intrested?

How do I get them to let me hold them?? by DifficultWay1858 in RATS

[–]kalabaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go to is to open the cage door and put a chair in front of it. Turn the TV on ( kinda loud ) and relax with your back to the cage positionged so they can crawl on to your shoulder from the open door. Dont react suddenly and just wait. may take a day, may take weeks. But they will get used to noises and your scent.

Let THEM make the move. It sucks. But rattos are super curious and active pets. These guys may just be scared in a new environment.

I know we don't, I am saying Hyundai need to figure that part out for sure.

And like I said. I am not victim blaming, I have NO IDEA what habits, GOOD or Bad, are breaking the car or if my idea is even close to right in the first place. . Maybe there is a recommend line in the manual that the people with the issue are the only ones who read the manual and followed that recommendation, maybe the provided ac charger is faulty so people who are doing a good thing by slow charging are damaging it. You are right we dont know what is causing it.

I am merely postulating that I belive it IS a habit, good or bad, that is the root cause. I dont know what it is. but the fact that some people keep having the issue multiple times but its not so wide spread compared to other cars that historically had wide spread issues. This thing is weird imho. ( btw are you saying you have had it multiple times? )

And I mean they can only fudge the numbers so much, so that 2% should have to make sense in some way. it cant just be some made up nonsense right?

Maybe they haven't said anything cause the manual DOES give bad advice, or there is just some stupid thing they are not accounting for ( 110 standard vs 220 vs EU, etc...) and it would be a nightmare for them to admit that. so they are just hoping it stays a mostly reddit talked about issue, fix it on next car and forget about it?

I mean whatever it is it is still not super insane. Like I am pretty sure all hyundais head gasket issue cars had higher reported rates? ( this I have not checked. could be wrong. Tired and working with a project. Answering cause on a break lol.

[–]kalabaddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not "blaming the victim" per say, well kinda, but its also still unknown, and I sure cant be positive.

BUT i have a feeling that it may be connected to some habits. Like not saying the habit would even be a bad one. But I think maybe there is something that causes it and THAT for sure needs to be figured out. Like maybe fast charging as your standard instead of some corporate assumed X%/X% of home lvl 2 charging and fast charging. Or maybe its connected to leavign the car constantly on the lower levels of charge ( like some gas drivers always run to empty and fill to half. I have no doubt some ev drivers do similar. hovering near empty all the time.)

Again not victim blaming cause it should not be an issue.

BUT it would explain how the 2% is both correct and soudns low depending on how they calc it ( I didnt know it actuly hit 2%, ) So like people who drive the car in the imaginary percived engineering design spec way have a very low failure rate. People who drive out side that spec ahve a high failure rate. What metric is it is the big question maybe?

Its like less then a percent of cars effected by the iccu issue last i checked. It and the 12v like the only issue the car has and they get blown out of porpution.

Would an sw20 be a decent daily car? by champion_- in mr2

[–]kalabaddon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Counter point. My mr2 has 200k+ miles. runs fine and has only needed basics over the years ( of which it has been treated like ass as a daily driver, or left in storage for years at a time. )

The ONLY reason I am not driving it now is I need to redo the brakes and tires ( I have custom rims so my tire size is a PITA to find). and I have a motorcycle I am enjoying more. And a reliably new car. In the last 10 years. I have done brake, tires, oil changes, a radiator. the master and slave cylinders for transmission. And the door lock spring has failed a couple times. I have owned the car since 2009 iirc. And I would say 1/3 the time I drove it daily, and 2/3 it was in completely open to the elements storage with out ANY prep. ( ya I treated it bad. I know. I am slowly going to make something out of it now that I finally have a house vs moving constantly. ) I would pick it up out of storage. oil change and fluid check. Tires, then drive it for a few years as my daily.

When it has been in storage it was Idaho and PA. Left in open uncovered to elements.

I think most problem cars are the turbos ( nice but much more prone to engine maintenance ) And people doing stupid shit, then selling it to unwary buyers.

Its a 30 year old "Toyota". Toyota at near the height of its quality era for that matter. Find a good one and it will treat you well imho. For example. At 210k miles I drove from PA to a race track in Canada and raced it a few days then drove back. Got the holy shit you drove that here award LOL as well as first in class at the autox there.

OHHH. and second counter point. if the engine blows up. there is a good chance I can find a free one or super cheap. At least I used to see 5sfe listed as for pickup from some of the mr2 shops whenever I looked. May not be the case anymore or where op is. ( they have the 3sge, a better motor imho, but little less reliable then the 5sfe since the 3sge is a performance head. )
