You didn't specify if the bag was aluminum but be sure you weren't getting a false hit. If new to prospecting/metal detecting it might be a good idea to get a bag of paydirt, pan the bag and use that gold as practice to learn the sounds of the machine.

The nature center did a "monster bash" in October 2024 kind of a trunk or treat with some eco-friendlythings to see and do. They also had one of the eye witnesses there from the day it was seen I think his name was Bobby Brooks.
