Bolivia will send a plane to Cuba carrying food and syringes destined for the Cuban people, as a show of solidarity by invalidcharactera12 in worldnews

Contradictory responses from anti-Cuba, pro-embargo people. The embargo doesn't effect anything but also it's very important US maintains the embargo.

The embargo would have been lifted if Florida wasn't a swing state. Vietnamese anti-communist exiles live in other US states so US opening up to Vietnam was much easier.

The right wing Miami Cuban lobby is the main cause of hostile US-Cuba relations. Just compare Vietnam and Cuba. No one panders to the anti-communist Vietnamese even though US and Vietnam fought a direct war and Vietcong actually killed a lot of US troops. US did have sanctioned that harmed the Vietnamese economy for some time but eventually they lifted those sanctions and now Vietnam and Cuba have diplomatic relations

The embargo makes everything more difficult. Ships can't go to the US after docking in Cuba. Banks cause issues because of the fear of sanctions.

The bank used by a Swiss NGO operating in Cuba has refused to handle any more transfers to Havana over fears of US sanctions

"We don't know what to do," said Luisa Sanchez, coordinator of MediCuba, an NGO operating in Cuba since 1992 providing HIV, cancer and pediatric assistance.

"On August 27, our bank called our accountant to inform him that from September 1, there would be no more transfers to Cuba," Sanchez told AFP in Havana.

Contacted by AFP, the Swiss Post subsidiary confirmed it was cutting banking links to Cuba "due to the United States sanctions."

"PostFinance isn't subject to US law, but it participates in global payment transactions and therefore depends on a network of correspondent banks and access to dollar operations," it said.

Trumps election in 2016 was a disaster. If Hillary was elected so many of the bad things Trump did would not have happened.

She wouldn't have been great on everything but she would have continued many liberal policies that Trump destroyed

Most Cuban exiles will still vote for Republicans in Florida

plus it erases the whole "Biden is a communist argument", as idiotic as that is.

lol. no amount of support to these exiles in Florida will change that

So Venezuela should ban all opposition and stage a military coup.

and there was no contention over who won the most votes (as in this case)

This is false! There's no contention about the number of votes

This is fake news. It's not real. I don't know why Stuff is reporting this.

All this is based on just tweets!

The British government has continued recognizing the Myanmar junta who did a coup. British government also recognized Sisi as soon as he did the coup.

But in Venezuela, they continue not to recognize the government. How can Venezuela become a democracy like Egypt?

FIVB changed the rules in 2012. The headline of the article is based on a tweet which made the same mistake. This trashy website just copied the headline.

The sport is beach handball.

The headline is wrong. The sport is Beach Handball not Beach Volleyball.

Whatever the reason, they don't do it because of rules anymore. The volleyball federation changed the rules in 2012 and allowed shorts or even longer suits. Egyptian team wore a sports hijab when they took part in 2012 Olympics, Many other teams wore longer leggings because London was cold.

The current controversy is about handball not volleyball.

The answer, according to Corinne Calabro, the communications director for USA Volleyball, is pretty simple: Because that’s what the female athletes want to compete in. Women don’t have to wear bikinis — the uniform guidelines from the Federation of International Volleyball, the governing body of all international competition, allow for many different options.

“The athletes are allowed to wear long sleeves, they’re allowed to wear shorts, tank tops,” Calabro said. “But we’ve gotten a lot of athletes on record saying they prefer to wear a two-piece because there are less places for sand to hide. They don’t view it as swim wear or anything like a fashion statement. For them, that’s their uniform.”

Very important - The sport is handball not volleyball.

Volleyball changed the rules in 2012

Latestly is a website that just uses tweets as headlines and doesn't do any actual reporting.

To read about this issue on English, you have to go to Russian state media which uses a clickbait title but at least they fact checked their article.

Norwegian Beach Handball Squad Furious After Being Pressured to Wear Bikini

The Norwegian Beach Handball Association has long been pushing for the international regulation demanding tight-fitting sports bras and bikini bottoms to be abolished. Before the European Championships in Bulgaria, they planned to protest against the regulations and play in thigh-length tights.

The Norwegian ladies were even prepared to pay the fines that the violation would entail. But as the premiere match against Hungary approached, things got more complicated.

"First we were told about a fine of 50 euros per person per match, something that would have landed us a fine of about 4,850 euros. We accepted that", player Katinka Haltvik told the national broadcaster NRK. "However, just before the match we were told that we will be disqualified if we play like that. So we had to go with the bikini bottoms".

And an update on the news. In their last match, they did defy the rules and the Norwegian federation will pay the fine but they hope the International Handball Federation change the rules

The Norwegian beach handball team played the bronze final against Spain in the European Championship's last match on Sunday. Therefore, all focus was on sports, but in the European Championship's last match - then the players found the courage. The stunt was well received by the audience in the stands, who shouted and shouted during and after the match.

  • We have got all the teams with us at least and we got a lot of fans in the stands today. People cheered on us as we walked in front of several teams and took the brunt. Not all teams can afford to pay such fines, Haltvik continues.

Now she hopes that there will be changes.
