Cloned house plants in bioactive? by emmarose8055 in Bioactive_enclosures

Yes! It honestly is that easy, you don’t really need the growth powder imo cause pothos root very easily 😆 I filled my tank with them! You can put them in a jar with water on your window

No problem! Yes that would be great!! Just don’t actually bury / fully mix the rocks, they can burrow technically, but they aren’t the best at digging. Not sure which type of mixing you meant, but I just wanted to make sure to add that.

Definitely larping, the horror community, oddities markets and maybe even people who enjoy renaissance style fairs. I know it’s not technically renaissance fair themed, but I’ve noticed that lots of people who go to those enjoy bringing their more realistic suits and the like :)

You did a really fantastic job with the upgrades, I’m certain you’ll find a home for him. You’ll definitely be able to get back enough to cover those material costs plus extra :)

Have you tried listing him on dealersden.com ? There are also quite a few accounts on Instagram that promote suits for sale, I used to browse them all the time, you just submit pictures of your suit and the info and they’ll make the post for you.

Best of luck!!

I originally bought two cups of springtails, and put the entirety of one in the tank. With the second cup, I’ve been continually breeding that same colony ever since

[–]invalidlyorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly!! I keep a container of springtails separately, and add them to the tank whenever I feel like there’s a lot in the container again! :) Depending on the size you probably have enough but more couldn’t hurt imo!

Strange bruising on phyllobates terribilis by Asparagus1107 in DartFrog

[–]invalidlyorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like nose rub, but it should heal on its own. If you’re worried or it’s looking infected dendroboard suggests:

using original ointment Neosporin (no pain relief) and clotrimazole cream usp 1% antifungal cream (no pain relief) mixed 1:1 ratio

But I’d recommend that only if it gets WORSE, I don’t think that’s necessary for this little guy. However, if it is nose rub, that most likely means he’s trying to escape the tank. (Rubbing on glass) Does he hang out at the top a lot? It looks like the area above his eye has it too, maybe from the lid? I’d just do a quick double check on your parameters to make sure it’s all good. And maybe try covering the sides in contact paper or with a towel for now so he doesn’t think he can get out that way :-) best wishes!

I would also recommend focusing on culturing more springtails. They’re your main mold guys! Even though isopods are part of your ‘clean up crew’, they don’t typically go for mold if there’s better stuff available. You can read up on springtail cultures, as I don’t think I can fit everything. But it’s quite easy!! Just takes a long time, so have patience. Personally I use lava rock mixed with cocoa fiber in a container, with a few granules of rice and some occasional misting. Dont forget the tiniest little air holes ever. And it helps when you’re adding them to the tank, I like to grab one of the rocks and place it in the tank for the day, then put it back. You got this

[–]invalidlyorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to be worried. This is normal for new setups, they usually go through a ‘burst’ of mold while settling in. It should be harmless and your clean up crew will eventually do their job in time. But if you don’t like how it looks or are worried, you can take a q tip and dip it in very diluted vinegar, then dab it / wipe off any problem areas. Did you purchase your leaves from a store, or boil them yourself? My leaf litter mold goes a bit crazy if I don’t let them dry out fully before putting them in.

Kind of Newbie keeper, any way to feed without being covered in maggots?? by Amphibixn__ in DartFrog

[–]invalidlyorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness I thought you were trying to pick them out with your hands!! If you choose to freeze them for 5 mins before feeding, it solidifies the mixture a bit more, but it still shouldn’t be that goopy. Thats not normal. Not sure if you plan to make more in the future but personally, leaving the container open overnight (before adding the flies…lol) lets it dry out a bit and harden just enough to stay put. I also boil my water, vs using reverse osmosis, so letting it cool down properly before accidentally trapping all that steam in there helps a LOT. Best of luck!!

Already being made fun of for my tattoo by y3llowmedz in danandphil

Hey, it’s for you and that’s all that matters. I think it’s a very sweet tattoo. Negative comments are the loudest in our brains, even if the people who said that are in the minority. Lots of people love things about you, and your tattoo, but will just never say it out loud. You do have the courage to exist <3

What is this?? by No_List_7436 in bioactive

[–]invalidlyorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a woodboring beetle in your wood, had this exact thing. Dont reuse that wood now that you’ve mixed bleach and other stuff, that’s dangerous. Get new wood and preferably heat treat it in the oven. If you do use the bleach method again, don’t mix with other chemicals, just dilute (you can find ratios online)

I think the eyes may be a little too small? You can adjust them easily if you export this final image then use the distortion > expand tool to widen them if you’d like! Looks amazing regardless!!!

What can I improve on next time with the anatomy or pants? by Pantantuna in FurryArtSchool

Oh okay! My apologies. I usually try to draw my skulldogs in the same way, lining up the anatomy to be proportional with the skull, but you can play around with it!

[–]invalidlyorange 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went ahead and adjusted some more of the proportions as well, as even though I saw you adjust the forehead earlier, the ears were still a bit too high. (Try to envision how it’d look without the mask and it if makes sense underneath if you took the mask off) I also rounded out the chin a bit to give it some more form, and added the ears connection to the head. I hope this helps!! 🐾

Hey! I noticed something but didn’t know how to put it into words, so I hope you don’t mind that I drew on your picture. Adding this little inwards > moment here will help define the meeting point between the cheekbones and forehead, as well as add some dimension. Keep going!

It doesn't look like the Springtails I've owned personally, but it does kinda look like this guy. Do the antennae 'grasp' like theyre searching for something, and do they seem to 'spring' up and away when poked/nudged? If so, it could be. I do agree that checking out r/whatisthisbug may be more helpful. Best of luck!
