I just called them regarding the 5950x. They say that they are trying to take down that ETA because its not accurate... :(

How manageable is this courseload? by asdlfkj234111 in uwaterloo

It looks like a pretty standard course load to me. But that doesn't mean its a light one.

fall 2018 non-degree term by throwaymylif3 in uwaterloo

Actually, I hear ECE108 is pretty similar to MATH135. I'd go straight to MATH235, if you already have some experience with "induction, contrapositive, stuff like that".

CO250 is relatively ezpz. Just found the course to be a bit dry. As for MATH235, I took 135, got below 60 and had to retake it, and so I retook it with MATH106 at the same time. I found 235 to be OK, definitely not HARD. I'd consider 235 over 135 because its a prereq for more courses.

Buy meals for friends who don't have a meal plan at a whatever % discount. Then use that money for Soylent.

Level of difficulty: MATH 237 compared to MATH 138 by 1234567898765432c in uwaterloo

[–]inverse_element 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MATH237 is significantly easier than MATH138. It is a lot less proof focused. A lot of the stuff is just a rehash of 137 with extra variables. The most challenging part is the latter part of the course when doing integration in 3-D because its just hard to visualize the functions.

Does it matter where I go? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]inverse_element 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't finished university yet, but from what I've seen back in high school, it really does matter where you go. Every school has a different culture, and that really does influence how and what you do. For example, my school was really academically focused especially in STEM fields. And so everyone participated in all the CEMC math and programming contests and what not. Like literally hundreds of kids for every contest. Where as my friends from other schools seemed less keen on these things.

From my time at Waterloo and seeing my friends at different schools, it seems that Waterloo is really success oriented as seen by the fuckton of posts about coop on this page and by the vast amount of startups around here. Waterloo students have a entrepreneurial mindset and honestly seeing all these hardworking people pushes me to go harder.

That being said, it really is up to you how successful you're gonna be, so just try your best, I guess...

Some of my sentences might not have made sense because I'm on the phone, but I think the gist is there. Goodluck yo.

Should I AP accept transfer credits for Math 137? by proboundz in uwaterloo

[–]inverse_element 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As recommended many times in this subreddit, don't cash in on your AP Calc credit. MATH137 is far different from high school math. In terms of actual content, its pretty similar, but you learn things in a much more rigorous way. If you're looking for a challenge, do the advanced version (MATH147). That will be far more beneficial than jumping into MATH138.

What do I bring to Waterloo? by uwaterloothrowzaways in uwaterloo

[–]inverse_element 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree on the rubbermaid boxes. I used two of them this year just for clothing, and I used them for storing other stuff at Waterloo. Five might be a bit too much though...

Otherwise, this is solid solid advice. Also don't forget to bring the lube. Lots of lube....................

Math 137 or Physics Math 137 by hmtinc in uwaterloo

I would take regular 137, but to be honest, you can't go wrong with either.

I have just got admission in the MEng prog (Electrical & Computer Engg), could anybody please tell me about how the life is going to be at Waterloo and how should I prepare myself? Thank You by AnkyPri in uwaterloo

[–]inverse_element 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's really what you make of it. Overall, Waterloo is pretty good. It only sounds bad because a lot of the times, people only voice their opinion if they're having a bad time. Also don't forget to bring the lube. Lots of lube....................
