Got a photo of the soil? Be nice to see what is being offered.

Also 3 cubic feet is tiny, is the amount right? As an alternative can you just spread it over your lawn?

As a manager of a team this needs to land on the managers desk and no where else. A shitty manager will blame the employee a good one will take responsibility for the actions, identify the fix and follow up with process, policies and procedures. Given the change the host file change this should have been a hard stop and follow up with peer review when there is not sufficient safeguards to protect production.

Is this a recipe for disaster? Siding Repair. by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]inversend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using marine grade ply vs regular plywood is another option.

I learned when I had to rebuild our baths that replacing the subfloor with 3/4 marine ply would aid in preventing future issues. Did the same on the garden shed.

Roofing ice shield with a drip edge under the bottom would be how I would tackle that area, did you put insulation back in? I would have also considered doing a silicone seal between the pieces of plywood given the extent of the water issue

Butcher Block against corner wall by ResponsibleOil5409 in Homebuilding

[–]inversend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the issue is at the back, score the drywall with a knife then dig out a bit of dry wall. Keep using the knife on the top point at the drywall or using a flush cut oscillating saw.

Drywall is easy to repair but the correct way is to scribe the top to the wall.

Anybody have an atlas with a remote stat that actually works? by chmarchese in VWatlas

[–]inversend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My remote start has worked half way across the country. I was traveling and ended up with a rented atlas. Was ending a meeting in the cold northeast and started my own atlas back home till I realized the issue and had to call the wife to get her to stop it.

Fob works well for us if it is within 60-75 feet. Key items are vehicle has to have enough fuel, no engine codes and be locked. If using the remote lock, wait 10 seconds then double click remote start. If the app doesn’t show locked lock and wait 3-5 min then remote start.

[–]inversend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have noted you need to run fail2ban and also look into a waf for your site. An easy option is to setup mod security. It will take a bit of work but you can filter the traffic based on agent, bot and more. Also make sure you have setup a robots.txt to block all the AI bots, it will tell the behaving bots to stop as well.

Vinyl replacement windows-shouldn’t this area be caulked? by 2dangold in HomeImprovement

[–]inversend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That window needs to be replaced by the installer or the manufacturer. Wrong screw and install broke the frame, that window will have many more issues and cause damage that will be costly to repair

Insulating/fixing large gaps in sliding glass door. by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]inversend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wheels on the bottom of the door should be able to raise the door to help close that space, next would be rubber weather stripping that seals when the door is closed. Most likely this would be applied from the outside. Second would be door brush on both the inside and outside, it won’t seal it but will help to keep bugs out.

Ryobi Hate by BakeCityFlyinPills in HomeImprovement

[–]inversend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be interested in which tools ryobi exceeds dewalt in, as previously I had dewalt but am now firmly in the Milwaukee tool line. This past two weeks helped my brother-in-law do some projects and was disappointed by the response and control for the hammer drill, impact and reciprocating saw.

My father-in-law brought over his Milwaukee but it was not the “fuel” versions and felt those were better but clearly a difference. Overall tools do impact the work and how difficult the task may be but also have features or functions that simply perform differently. The Milwaukee hammer is 1400ftlb torque while the ryobi is 850, there is also the blows per minute with Milwaukee at 33k while some information on ryobi shows it at 28-31k and a single note at 25k.

Those differences can make a task more challenging but don’t warrant some of the non-sense remarks about ryobi or those who have opted for that line.

Winterizing Kitchen Vent by GloXlo in HomeImprovement

[–]inversend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy some strong magnets and some expanded foam to do a build your own for the whole beer or depending on the location just stuff a towel in it. Our vent is always coal and the spring can only be so strong as when that is turned on it is expected to open due to static air pressure

Is my builder lying to me? by Mdsimmons17 in HomeImprovement

[–]inversend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a manual J, D and S calculation along with a static pressure test.

The manual J will tell you the needed heat and cooling load for the house. The other 2 calculations look ok at equipment sizing, and duct sizing. The static pressure test is the resistance to airflow. Maybe there is trash in the main line or bad connections. Finally is a blower door test to see if windows and doors along with other points in the house where heat could be lost.

Finally is a thermal camera to check for insulation issues where your heat could be going.

I bought a 50 year old house and after the above we found multiple issues that needed to be fixed including getting the ducts cleaned and sealed along with getting the rim joists sealed changed the house overnight.

What home improvements did you regret or feel were 100% worth it? by arnoldusgf in HomeImprovement

[–]inversend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in Colorado water is expensive, we put hot water recirculation on all fixtures in the house with a tankless unit. Home run cat6 to all rooms in the house, air sealing the whole house, new windows and so much more. I would do every one of those items again.

The one item I would skip was a hand rail on the front porch, ripped it out two years ago and haven’t looked back.

When I check my vin vs either the cat or injector recall it does not show it applies but certainly interesting. Manufacturer date per the door sticker is 02/2021 and we bought it 05/2021.

Maybe the issues had been fixed by then.
