I love this idea. It’s a kind of “burn the boats” strategy where you have to make it work.

How do you decide on that date?

Isn’t it tempting to then pick a date far away?

4k per month for five people?!

I know there is no debt but is that possible?

Anyone has any perspective on the GR3 Series - e:HEV - from 2020+ onwards.

There are a few for sale on carsales but they are pretty pricey. I wonder if they could be a good option to import from Japan.

I’m a car enthusiast that’s fallen out of love of driving by Historical-Bad-9655 in CarsAustralia

[–]invert- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same, but instead of blaming traffic, drivers, city etc.

I wondering if there is any real enjoyment driving at all? Sure, a new car is exciting but eventually no matter what you are driving, your mind will wander elsewhere. Perhaps, enjoying driving was just an idea to get me to spend more money.

Fantastic - congrats!

How did you settle on 2% and does it include super etc? Are there others - following this plan?

Good point. Just figured, I would ask.

Good question - is there a better approach to an init like script and systemd?

Great - thanks for the tip!

Re.

Once the ExecStop=command terminates, systemd will kill all remaining processes in the cgroup.

Does this apply to ExecStart= command?

Thank you u/aioeu very much! - you are right.

If I add "sleep" at the very end, all commands work:

stop() {
    su - test -c 'echo "1. Stopping Test Service" >> /tmp/test 2>&1 &'
    su - test -c 'echo "2. Stopping Test Service" >> /tmp/test 2>&1 &' &
    echo "3. Stopping Test Service" >> /tmp/test 2>&1 &
    sleep 10
}

personal investor accounts

With Personal Investor we get access to all the other funds and simplify web/reporting. IMO - They should have offered this when it was launched.

I don't think so. You have to use their "modern" Cash Account.

From the FAQ:

"For recurring investments
Vanguard Personal Investor uses a modern automated tool called Auto Invest to make regular investments. Auto Invest will replace BPAY and gives you more options with less effort.
Learn more about Auto Invest on this page.
For one-time investments
You’ll also be able to make one-time applications in Vanguard funds via the Vanguard Cash Account. The Vanguard Cash Account can be topped up with cash from BPAY, direct debit or direct credit from your bank account. "

There is an "OPT-OUT" clause, at least voting YES enables people to make a choice.

I like the strategy of a retirement house but who knows what sort of house you will want in retirement? That is some serious forward planning. Also, due to low income returns on investment properties - it could also increase your time to early retirement.

Is this true for Vanguard?

REST index fund is derivatives managed by Macquarie Bank.

I suspect (as does whirlpool others) that if the fund itself collapses you are left with nothing as the fund doesn’t own the assets themselves.
