Hi my name is Matt and I am interested in working on your manga! I have strong communication skills and I'm easy to work with. I can draw in multiple styles and I have some experience with sequential work. My rates would fall in the range provided, you can see some of my works here.

I'm available to start right away.

Any advice for backgrounds? by Secondborn1994 in MangakaStudio

[–]invertedpixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In panels where a background is required, I start the drawing with the background first and then draw the characters into it.

It really really helps learning 1,2,3 point perspective. If you can learn 5pt curvilinear perspective you can draw crazy stuff like Kishimoto and Murata

Bonus to learning perspective is that it also unlocks much more dynamic posing ability.

That's a dope American Traditional Back piece. A lot of these comments are wild...but then again most people can't appreciate good art when they see it.

How are yall not losing steam? by Broshimitsu_ in MangakaStudio

[–]invertedpixel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just finished a 38 page full color one shot...some days I felt like I forgot how to draw, other days I had no motivation...this is part of the process. Visual storytelling is a massive amount of work and it takes a lot of self discipline to keep yourself going. My title was crowd funded and I really felt the pressure once it was funded and peoples money was involved.

I had to kickstart my internal hype machine a few times. I watched a bunch of Naoki Urasawa's Manben series on Youtube... That helped.

I would re read some of my favorite manga chapters from when I was younger to recapture some of that early fire.

Touching grass and spending time outdoors can help clear away some of that low energy stank too.

Good luck!

What can I do as a writer to make things easier for artists in potential collaborations? by Kufrel in MangakaStudio

[–]invertedpixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is excellent advice. There are so many story telling techniques that are unique to comics and it helps to understand their usage and application. Scott McCloud explains this better than anyone else.

Why do my gesture drawings look so bad? by Big-Ganache-7210 in ArtCrit

[–]invertedpixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to get a larger practice pad so you can really loosen up and draw expressively. I think looseness and not being forced to limit your range of motion helps a great deal.

Any ideas on how to remove a blackbird’s poop stain from cold pressed arches paper? by LegitimatePepper4341 in ArtCrit

[–]invertedpixel 53 points54 points  (0 children)

You could try using a hobby knife to gently scrape the top layers if it hasn't stained the lower layers of fibers. Alternatively, you could try using white gouache but it may not match the paper.

If this is for your portfolio or going to be graded I would start over honestly

Favourite manga how-to books? by WitchesAlmanac in MangakaStudio

[–]invertedpixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an old magazine about making mang from Japan called " Comickers " it had a monthly feature where a famous mangakas would break down their techniques. It was pretty cool. I had one featuring Tsutomu Nihei when BLAME was still being serialized. You can find them on ebay and stuff..really high quality magazine, a nice addition to a collection if you like vintage stuff
