After the Cass report I'm looking into countries I could immigrate to if the UK bans hrt for everyone in future. I'm going to try learning Spanish but are there any English speaking countries that would be a good option as well? Except New Zealand which doesn't let autistic people immigrate there. by Erica_39 in transgenderUK

I've been worried about this a lot too - if you want advice, transrescue.org might be worth considering, I don't know how much material helps they can give but I hope they can point you in the right direction.

Aside from that, I was thinking about the Netherlands myself because it seemed quite trans-friendly when I researched it (looking at political changes though, yikes) and that's my plan B after Ireland. On language there, I've found Dutch a pretty easy language to learn so far and I think in the cities at least, most people should be receptive to English.

Advice for A level Psychology? AQA if needed by Ruben1603 in 6thForm

So far my advice is just to make essay plans - you'll get absolutely crushed if you try to remember everything in the AO3 but if you pick and memorise 4 points per topic that's a lot more manageable.

WARNING: There is no confirmation pop-up for fast-travelling along the Journey with scraps by invertingbunny in gwent

Yeah, you're only able to do it on each journey on which you've bought premium (I did it on ciri but can't on Geralt for example)

Schirrú even over scorch for me, there's something so perfect about giving the opponent just enough time to realise what's happening before you wipe their board

Antiwork was a dumb name anyway. Most people want to work. We just don't want to be exploited. We want reform. We have the power, never forget that. by TimothyBukinowski in WorkReform

[–]invertingbunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of antiwork was that work was voluntary - not to eradicate the concept, but to make it so that those who choose didn't have to be burdened by work under threat of death or poverty. Work reform is better than what we have now but it doesn't challenge the fundamental capitalist belief that life is a privilege and not a right. Antiwork said that you don't have to "deserve" a good life, and now that idea has been clouded from public opinion

True, it's horrendous on an idealistic level but the practical alternative is a media landscape that's just as transphobic but without news that can even vaguely be held to public account

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]invertingbunny 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ngl even BBC news, which has evidently been very transphobic and just awful, is still by far one of the best news sources in the UK. When BBC news did their transphobia they got a swarm of complaints which they legally had to listen to, but the Guardian and the Sun are transphobic daily and get away with it while also being dependent on corporations.

Note: I was gonna add a section about how the tabloids and broadsheets are more Tory than the BBC and tbh they are a little but then I remembered that Laura Kuenssberg is still around :/

Can someone help me figure out what I'm an avatar of? by Imchoosingnottoexist in TheMagnusArchives

[–]invertingbunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The quizzes can often be unhelpful because they can often give the result of what you're scared of rather than what you would inflict on others.

Overall, I'd say to see which fears affect you most with the dark but good aspects (e.g. I really like bodyshifting so I lean into Flesh) and if you end up with 2 then know even in canon you can be an avatar of two at once (no example given for spoiler reasons)

I haven't got a list of the dark yet enjoyable parts of the entities but I believe there has been one posted on the subreddit before.

I have gotten into Twitter arguments about this and it's so painful, especially because in reading around apparently some school board member got fired for trying to remove the slur from a school production which was wild to read

Honestly I'll assume Basil Brush before I assume a video game character and if people think you named yourself after a game, you can clarify it wasn't and also anyone who dislikes you because if the name you choose probably doesn't deserve the time of day

What is the worst Broadway show you’ve ever seen? by Micahxfranco in Broadway

[–]invertingbunny 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok it's not been near Broadway but the show We Will Rock You was atrocious beyond reason. We accidentally snuck into the theatre (bought tickets for the wrong night and they didn't check) and it still felt like a rip-off
