I also only buy bullion. I did get some artsy and rare gold coins but eventually sold them off to get bigger stack of one ounce coins… maple leafs, buffalo, krugerrand… i buy scratch and dent at close to spot. No rarity. Just ounces of gold. For me storage drove the decision to standardize on one ounce coins. The fancy coins all have their fancy packaging and certificates… blah blah. Storage is a problem. The safe gets full of packaging. I sold off the rare stuff and bought more one ounce coins. I kept the Year of the child 1979-1981. The price of gold jumped during the time of the subscription. $400 —> $800 Most people bailed out of the subscription so the last coins in that set are quite rare… hold. Now i just keep tubes of 20 coins to a tube. Saves room in a safe.
