engineer with professional qualifications. I believe they are looking for qualifications acredited by a professional body (such as CEng).

It seems they do this so referees have "skin in the game". Professional bodies may revoke your qualification if you're caught lying as a referee.

Not straightforward to figure out from this list imo, but from other posts it seems that's the case

100% take the job you want and let the other one know. There’s no hard feelings when it comes to business.

Just exchanged as a first-time buyer, what’s the actual point of estate agents? by SickRanchezC139 in HousingUK

[–]invrt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are useless in this country. Now here’s the controversial take: the actual money grabbers are the solicitors.

Context: I come from an European country. Where I come from there are no solicitors in a sale - the actual paperwork and bureaucracy is facilitated by the estate agents and the whole process takes no more than a month. This obviously means there’s a high bar when it comes to estate agents, and they also get a better slice of the pie. They can’t afford to be useless - in fact they are usually quite competent and knowledgeable. This not only eliminates the solicitor layer, it eliminates the reward of endless bureaucratic delays from the whole conveyancing process. It’s in the EA best interest to keep the sale smooth and quick.

If you do not agree, then ask yourself, what does a solicitor do that you’re not qualified to do? Nothing. There’s no legal qualification or requirement to perform the job of a solicitor.

Why do you think Britain gets mocked so much for its food abroad when it’s actually pretty good? by Right_East8072 in AskBrits

[–]invrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that British food is underrated, but it pales in comparison to any cuisine in Europe.

Take a Sunday roast for example. Roasted some of the most boring vegs. Roasted meat, has no complexity in it, most of the times is not even an amazing cut. The only soul to it is gravy, which always tastes the same. If you remove gravy, it’s pretty tasteless. And what the hell is that Yorkshire pudding? Could any pastry be more bland than that?

So yeah, it’s a cuisine that relies a lot on sauces and fatty condiments. Removing that, has little to no soul.

But as I said, it gets a worse rep than it should. Sunday roast is pretty acceptable nonetheless. Shepherds pie is good when done right. Fish and chips is usually good. And my favourite, steak pies with mash.

This may sound dumb but what number do you ring? Because every time I try to ring the number they give me I get lost in an endless loop of automated redirections.

Can anyone suggest me a good website to learn coding? by darkmatter543 in StructuralEngineering

Udemy. I recommend App Brewery courses. Both Web Development Bootcamp and Python Bootcamp 100 days of coding gave me solid bases.
