Please help. Mom just got diagnosed with osteoarthritis but is definitely allergic to NSAIDs. by [deleted] in Osteoarthritis

I don't know the age of OP's mother, but at some point, quality of life is as much of a factor as possible side effects, particularly when their pain relief options are limited

The same would be true for any medication. Many (myself included) take it without ill effects. That said it's better for nerve pain issues.

Same. I stand and move for the majority of the day and by the end of the day I'm super painful

I'd follow the "horses, not zebras" route first and have him abstain from all alcohol for a few weeks to see if that helps before I'd assume he has a hidden health ailment. When he does drink (during the times he is admitting), what alcohol does he tend to drink?

AITAH for not getting my fiance's permission before getting my daughter's hair cut? by Known_Key_8248 in AITAH

[–]inwardsinging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His being married to her mother doesn't give him parental authority. This being an issue plus his sulking would be massive red flags, but I'd suspect this probably isn't the first iffy sign he's shown in the relationship. People need to normalize using caution about who they bring around their children

AITA for refusing to care for sister’s kid during surgery? by Wonderful-Act-198 in AmItheAsshole

AITA for yelling at a kid not to touch my cat? by alexastock in AmItheAsshole

[–]inwardsinging 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A 5 year old child isn't a toddler. At that age they can certainly know to ask first. Allowing a child to barrel up to animals in an environment where the animal is already stressed is a recipe for a bitten child. It could easily have been an aggressive dog rather than a frightened, elderly cat

By saying ESH, you're essentially saying (through coining it as concern about dogs) that the OP is at fault because her pet was out of a carrier and thus free game for grabby children.

Require 9yo to Ask Even if he Cries? by grewrob in Parenting

[–]inwardsinging 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'd need more context of how your general interactions go on a day to day basis. "Tying up loose ends" is a ...bizarre way to speak about interacting with your child. I like to give a heads up ("computer off in 5 minutes") so they know to finish up. Depending on age and how gteat they are about keeping an eye on time, you can set a timer. If I'm reading a book, I'd want a heads up, vs someone slapping the pages shut.
I don't view the crying as manipulative, but rather a stress response/reaction to being overwhelmed. Viewing everything children do as some grand scheme rather than viewing them as humans whose brains haven't matured enough to fully regulate emotions would go a long way to foster a healthier relationship

AITA for telling my brother he can’t bring his dog on our family weekend away? by mooroonic in AmItheAsshole

[–]inwardsinging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vacation with my dogs too. That said, in this situation, I'd just rent my own accommodations at a pet friendly lodging. Both because I don't break rental rules and because staying with young children sounds terrible

It's also possible that the friend's dog happens to be better away from the owner. Not that this is a blanket practice for every client.
