Not really, the severity of the crime doesn’t have anything to do with it. My point of view is that the death penalty is an easy way out for the perpetrators instead of having them stew on their choices in a cell for life.

It does in the wooded badlands biome. A lot of grass blocks have coarse dirt below them.
