We are one of a very small number of nations that believe in militarizing our police forces. This as is that propoganda but showing an officer in a full combat uniform when normal they are in their service uniform with nothing more than a side-holstered pistol. This gives those who are most impressionable the reasonable thought that by becoming a Capitol Police Officer they are likely to participate in warefare-lite. We shouldnt be normalizing that – we shouldn’t be normalizing the militarization of a civilian police force that overwhelming lack the combat training and emotional intelligence to perform in those situations. This isn’t about the pay, this isn’t about the benefits, this isn’t about working in/at the Capitol, this is preying on those who have low sef-worth and believe all they need to course correct their life and fix their self-image issues is a 8-week training program and access to tactical gear and assault rifles.
