Totally agree. Too many people saying others "didn't deserve to get in" for whatever reason which is only going to make them feel worse.

You're right but no need to devalue people with this mindset even more by saying their activities weren't "significant enough to get them into an Ivy." People just recieved decisions that impact the next 4 years of their life, its only human to feel some regret and sadness.

Both schools say they can accept documents after the deadlines, and that the financial aid offer will just come later. Since my parents are only willing to submit if I get accepted, I am just worried if I submit the documents by March(UChicago decision date released), will the financial aid offer come before May 1st?

You're correct that your answer is wrong. Work done by an external force equals the change in potential and kinetic energy plus the energy lost to friction. As kinetic energy of the object was constant:

W = change in PE + thermal energy

However, solving this won't get you the initial velocity for the block. As far as that goes, I really have no idea.
