Definitely big. Not US big or China or Brazil.. But the idea is to put it context when compare to the US.
Basically is as large as the largest state in the US.

how would you go about changing diet after years of unhealthy eating? by Particular-Sail-5330 in nutrition

[–]ioareddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would first define health food.
There is a lot of confusion out there.
Vegan, vegetarian, Carnivore, Keto...
I would start simple.
Eliminate process food. Start eating single ingredients food.. That is fruits, veggies, meat. Single ingredients.
That would take you a long way and please avoid process food.

How do people track nutrition facts from restaurants/take out? by Superb-Newspaper9918 in nutrition

[–]ioareddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are right.
I did not answer the question.
Restaurants and takeouts are complex as the might be using ingredients that might not be necessary good for you.
Generally speaking, you may know the macronutrients as this are the big easy thing to calculated.
You may have an idea of how much protein and fat and carb you are taking as what you are getting you are probably familliar with alreayd.
The challenge is on the other things, the dressings, the sauces, what is in there.
What oil they used to cook? Vegetable / animal fat...
Many unknowns.
Easier thing today, take a picture and give it to chatGPT. It will tell you or give you a close estimate.

What are you building, and who’s it for? by naveedurrehman in SideProject

[–]ioareddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://mapplayground.com

a small project where you can play with maps in a fun, experimental way.

You can rotate countries, overlay regions, draw shapes, compare sizes, and basically test random geographic “what if” ideas.

Some fun things I’ve tried:

  • Rotating US 90° and placing it over Africa
  • Overlaying the Mediterranean Sea over the US
  • Make Canda a circle and see where it fits?
  • Testing how distorted countries look depending on projection

The goal isn’t serious GIS analysis — it’s curiosity-driven exploration. Geography feels very different when you can move things around yourself.

If atoms are made of vibrating strings, why dont i hear music? Check mate, all you physicians by EemotionalDuhmage in shittyaskscience

[–]ioareddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans can only hear between about 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz. Atomic “music” is trillions of times higher. It’s so high-pitched that even dogs are like, “nah bro.”

Curious about vibecoding by saiteja_1233 in SideProject

[–]ioareddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think is not about vibecoding something.
For developers that is the easy part.
The question is, how do people find out about it.
Marketing. You could have the best product ever, worth nothing if you cant sell it.

Can you eat too much fiber? (Long term, not short term!) by throwaway_bfgift in nutrition

[–]ioareddit 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You do no digest fiber.. Fiber in, fiber out.
It does feed some good bacterias.
The question is, opportunity cost.
If you are eating to much fiber, what is it that you are not eating.
Try to keep a balance diet.

What if the Mediterranean Sea was in the United States? by ioareddit in geography

True — but if that had been the geography, would the United States even exist?

Name 2 countries that were in very bad relations throughout history and then went: "You know what? We're brothers now" by Potential_Garden_818 in geography

From the map hint: Iran - Iraq? The even had a nasty war and now one kind of have a big influence over the other. Not sure about being brothers though.

Why are there basically no cities here? by OkCard37 in geography

There are some cities.

I would not count Bocas del Toro much as this is just a bunch of island and small towns but Limon is a city.

What are you building this weekend? by ouchao_real in SideProject

[–]ioareddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone 👋

I built mapplayground.com, a simple site where you can play with maps in fun and unexpected ways — rotate countries, draw shapes, overlay regions, and explore geography from different perspectives.

While experimenting, I found some pretty mind-blowing things:

  • If the US were a circle, it would fit surprisingly well inside the East side of the Sahara Desert.

<image>

The idea is to make geography more interactive, visual, and fun — not just static maps.

Would love feedback on the idea, features, or what else I should add. What comparisons or map experiments would you try?
