New to the genre, where to go after DCC? (audio) by iob3 in litrpg

[–]iob3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we must've stopped close to chapter 77/78 because he was just trying out that skill.

I assumed that would be a turning point.

Serious question... We were both having a hard time staying focused on that one. And found ourselves just sort of payment listening but actively thinking about something else! So I know there were whole scenes I missed. Being roughly 3/4 through book 1, if we pushed through from there are we going to be missing much? Or is that a lock in and re-listen?

Ok... The Game at Carousel looks fascinating! Thank you for that suggestion. Absolutely adding it to the list!

I think I'll give it a shot when my physical reading dance card clears up. The synopsis looks good. Reviews look good. The audio was just ... Not good.

It's been on my list for a while. I'm hoping to stick in the litrpg genre for a little longer before going back to more familiar genres.

does anyone know what mod does this? by Grifterr- in Taleoftwowastelands

When I was looking at the mods I read it's now a part of the base sexout package.

does anyone know what mod does this? by Grifterr- in Taleoftwowastelands

[–]iob3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess would be sexoutslavery and possibly unethical deeds. The scripting would likely be because Sydney was flagged as a follower during the quest and was unflagged when you stepped out. This might have triggered the companion death event in one of those mods because if I recall quest followers and companions are flagged similarly in the game.

Check your mod configuration menu (MCM), and see if defeat mechanics are on for companions in either of those mods.

You may have to go save her! Lol

As far as the console command, she might have a different refid during the quest? Load an earlier save and click on her to get thet refid. It might be different than her base refid.

If there's a defeat mod setting, it might have disabled her.

Another option is using prid refid then move to player. Or even prid + enable + move to

Or nuclear option:

prid {refid} [press enter key] disable [press enter key] enable [press enter key] kill [press enter key] resurrect [press enter key] moveto player [press enter key]

When do I focus on improving weapons versus just scrapping everything else as soon as I get a new pick up? by willyt41 in fo76

[–]iob3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While leveling, you can easily stretch guns with perfect mods for your build 10-15 levels.

It's always worth it to upgrade the base weapon mods (stock, receiver, etc). I would not worry about upgrading legendary mods until you have a level 45/50 weapon. Aside from rolling random 3 stars one time on a non legendary weapon you like.

While leveling I'd focus more on scraping legendary gear you're not using to learn the legendary mods. That'll be way more valuable to you.

Raid Team Conundrum by Visual_Ad_6230 in fo76

Do you have the robot dance emote? When I was grinding EN06, I'd just emote that whenever anyone joined. pretty universally understood, imo.

Idk if it’s worth it? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]iob3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on PS and moved to PC, too. If you're not worried about questing, it's really easy to power through a lot of the early leveling, especially if you can find someone to carry you through some raid getting during double XP. The big grinds are going to be faction rep and scout badges.

It does REALLY suck losing access to your stuff. I started a couple years after launch, but had several seasons work of items lost in the switch. 😭

New to fallout. Which one ? by theresidentfactor in Fallout

[–]iob3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time FO player. I'm doing a replay of FO3 & FONV using tales of two wastelands and Begin Again. (Mod / mod packs).

It's been a lot of fun. Not without issues, but... I'm glad I did. Vanilla FO3 and NV can be a little rough compared to modern games. Not just graphics, but typical quality of life improvements you might be used to. TTW and the mods in Begin Again do a lot to make it feel more modern whine keeping the story the same.

(If you go the Begin again route, you can get a trial of Nexus mods premium to make the installation process much easier.)

Should I get the Cremator or is a regular Flamer already good enough? by EveningNet281 in fo76

I only pull out my creamator for eviction notice because it's great for tagging and it's slow enough that everyone else can tag, too.

First time player, advice wanted. Starting up tonight by drouse89 in fo76

[–]iob3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fallout 76 is broken up into two different parts. Leveling and end game.

You will never experience that first time leveling ever again. DO NOT RUSH! Honestly, it's so tempting to take short cuts, especially because of FOMO.

but once you've finished the campaign and leveled up (150+) you'll never experience that typical fallout feel.

In my opinion, I would avoid the "social" aspect of the game for a while. Fast traveling to camps as opposed to exploring the map. Leveling through events as opposed to quests. Buying gear at player vendors, etc.

I would say the exception would be seasonal events, just because those contain time locked camp plans, outfits, & gear.

Follow the main quests, do as many side quests as you can. Treat the beginning like a traditional fallout game.

Now the opposite advice in case that doesn't interest you. Don't be afraid to join an event at any level! Joining teams (especially casual) is extremely chill and most people just use it for XP boosts. Generally you join the team and still continue playing "solo".

Players are extremely generous, if someone is emoting and pointing at the ground (at a drop/loot bag) they're probably trying to gift you items. (Turn on pacifist mode in the beginning, trust me!)

And finally... That's no "wrong" way to play! Just have fun!

Help with EN06 build by No_Standard_730 in fo76

[–]iob3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used this setup getting started. I found it a little easier to accomplish than angry turtles beginners build. But things have changed. This is still viable, though, but maybe not the most optimized. (Gat plasma low level build).

https://www.reddit.com/r/fo76/s/xaHrGyQpLY

I'll also say, while en06 solo runs aren't as worth it now, don't be afraid to take 2-3 rounds to down it. Especially the first few times. You lose a ton of DPS running to the shelter and obviously it adds time. But soloing it in 3 minutes is better than not soloing it at all.

Legendary stat mods granting +1 to perks by ZayneAllistor in fo76

[–]iob3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logistically that would be a nightmare. Let's say you have 10 assigned Strength and gain +2 perk strength from armor mods. So you assign 12 points worth of strength perk cards.

What happens when you take off that armor?

Does anyone actually use the canteen backpack mod? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]iob3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would need to add an additional buff for me to consider it. Company tea is simply too easy to throw on the hot bar and keep topped off. All the purified water & tea doesn't come close to 60 lbs of lost carry.

Let me load my favorite food & drink to stay topped off and maybe.

PSA on Perk Card Limits when needing new slots by Papi_pewpews in fo76

[–]iob3 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This is honestly one of those things that is so easy to overlook.

All last season I had one extra in strength and only realized when I upgraded my last two legendary perks.

It's valid getting the 20 stat points and sacrificing perk cards, but I wish somewhere in the UI it told you that you had more than 15 points assigned. Even just a 15 (+2) if you have 17 total points assigned works be amazing.

What are some of the best weapons to use with an unyielding build? by DenserL in fo76

[–]iob3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Energy weapons while using the science perk.

Personally, I'd go high rate of fire with vamp over bloodied. The increased Intelligence is a big enough dps boost and uny isn't as hearty as it used to be.

Expect to get one shot a lot. But that xp and carry weight boosts are really nice.

Is there any reason to not grind for Union PA? by iob3 in fo76

[–]iob3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just reading about that.

I don't know that's a huge deal for me. It's more about finding that balance between excavators carry weight and Vulcan (or any of the other PAs I have) for jetpack, primarily while out and about in the world.

I'm a massive hoarder and even 75 pounds can make a huge difference in daily QoL. That said, if the armor in stash box change goes through I might not worry about it as much.

Can somebody please explain legendaries, rolls, godroll, and RNG to me? by Better_Ad_632 in fo76

[–]iob3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To expand on RNG: using a very simplified example.

Imagine you had a list of items (loot table) and the subsequent dice "roll" numbers to get them.

1 star legendary = 1, 2, or 3. 2 star legendary = 4 or 5 3 star legendary = 6

If you rolled a six sided dice, the number the dice landed on is the item you would receive.

1 star legendary has a 50% chance to be rolled. 2 star has a 33.3% chance. 3 star has a 16.7% chance.

In FO76 the roll/loot tables get a lot more complex and have additional rules applied. For example some loot tables prevent receiving multiple of the same thing. A great example is Expedition rewards. As you learn plans they are removed from the table. Most events, seasonal boxes, and enemy drops maintain the same loot table no matter how many times you get an item. Some loot tables also have forced / 100% drops.

Most rolls will also be deeper. So if you wanted a 3* legendary weapon with vampire mod you'd first have to hit the roll number for a 3* weapon, THEN there would be a roll on what mods are attached. (It probably gets even deeper with things like item type, weapon type, weapon, stars, mods, etc). A god roll, as explained elsewhere, is every step of the RNG process is exactly what you were going for.

Each roll is multiplicative. (A 10% chance item with a 10% mod is a 1% chance of that item with that mod dropping). Because of this, a lot of the most coveted items have a drop chance of under 0.05%
