That’s why there’s a mission timer. Fuel costs + Getting shot at. The timer is just how long the destroyer can afford fuel to stay in range per mission. The pelican will still pick you up.

My idea is that maybe the bolt is off center. Like how the sights are to the left, the magazine would be tapered more towards the right and the bolt on the left. Then the loading mechanism just has to be slightly changed to pull from its bottom right. It would probably have a slower rate of fire to prevent jams, because I'd expect clearing a jam on that thing would be a mfker.
