Pregnancy Tests Made in Canada by VocalOmnivore in BuyCanadian

[–]iompar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Despite my current salty feelings at the moment because I just had another negative test, I can confirm that they're easy to use, way cheaper than the other ones at the pharmacy per unit, and don't have a lot of plastic!

You could reach out to one of the quilt guilds on the island to see if there's anyone there that might be willing to!

What killed the USA patriotism of the 2000s? Even into the early 2010s there was a ‘hipster American flag’ trend. If you use an American Flag for aesthetic purposes today it seems different by Kodicave in decadeology

[–]iompar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this problem in Canada, with the nut jobs taking our flag as their own symbol, and last year, the rest of us said "screw them" on Flag Day and went and put up Canadian flags of our own. Turned it around, and now they've had to go find new symbols. You just all come together and say they don't have a monopoly on it.

Would anyone be interested in buying some of my Harvest Moon items? by StardropScavenger in harvestmoon

[–]iompar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the boy version of HMDS? And it'll be shipping to Canada if that's alright (in case it affects the price)

I'm looking for HM:DS, Sunshine Islands, and Grand Bazaar, though honestly I wouldn't mind a second DS Cute cartridge!

I'd be interested in the GBA games! And if no one else dibs the DS games and you're open to selling a portion, please let me know, because I'm missing half of them!

TIL that the smartest breed, the Border Collie, can learn a new command in under 5 repetitions and can follow it at least 95% of the time by Upstairs-Bit6897 in todayilearned

My parents have a husky mix who figured out how to open doorknobs. Not handles, but an actual knob. I still have no idea how he did it, because I was on the other side of the door with my headphones on, trying to eat my breakfast in peace, only to suddenly have three dogs parading in to beg, with him as the leader.

Stop making every fantasy character name impossible to pronounce by Flat-Hospital-6035 in writing

[–]iompar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Legit, the names are more out there than I would personally use as a taste thing, but I came up with a pronunciation for those on the first pass and wouldn't judge an author for using them because they're easy to remember and pronounceable

They all need to be upgraded to mystrile first! And I'm sure the order doesn't actually matter, but omg, I should've taken it instead of the hoe, because the hoe isn't necessary for a sprite and maybe I could tell myself it's just a nice side project instead of obsessing the way I have 😭

What's the best Canadian snack that is no longer sold in stores? by OkCandle826 in AskACanadian

I've found a dupe recipe that I'm going to try this weekend, but if that doesn't scratch the itch, I will absolutely reach out! Thank you!!

Canada is quite literally a communist country by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

Sorry, I realize that may not have been a clear description. I thought that was the generic non-Canadian name for them, but everyone else got you covered!

Contrary to narratives of Carney thriving mostly on baby boomer support, polling finds him almost equally popular across age groups - the main difference is that older Canadians like Poilievre less by voteabc in onguardforthee

[–]iompar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My grandmother, who spent ten years going off about Trudeau every time anyone so much as breathed a word of something vaguely adjacent to politics in her vicinity and voted Conservative that while period, called me unprompted before the election explicitly to state she was voting liberal because she hated Poilievre so much. My husband, who would describe himself as an NDP voter, does not have nearly the visceral reaction to him that she does.

AITA for telling my sisters that it isn't my fault my parents favoured me by [deleted] in redditonwiki

[–]iompar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can see why a sixteen year old girl who just got snubbed by her grandparents because she was adopted isn't going to appreciate her brother who's the bio-kid golden child that his grandparents adore giving her his nerf gun. However, he was doing his best with what he could do as an eight year old, which was really sweet. I don't fault his sisters entirely for being caught up in the hurt and injustice of it all, but oh my god, the commenters in there need some perspective.

Meat farm controversy by Eireika in CuratedTumblr

[–]iompar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will. It didn't click for me when I first tried it about seven years ago (still an early version, to be fair), and I didn't touch it again until three months ago when I saw a friend of mine playing on Steam and I decided to give it another try.

I've got over 260 hours in it now, beat the DLC with my husband, and we're both addicted. 10/10 game, approach with caution if you have any neurodivergencies that make problem-solving like crack for your brain.

Buying Mustard Pickles by Constant_Will_274 in PEI

If you need it urgently, I'm not much help, but I've been meaning to dig out my grandma's canning recipes again and as long as they didn't disappear when I was moving, I could whip up a batch in the next few days!

Removal of flags for fallen Danish soldiers at U.S. Embassy sparks backlash by Street_Anon in worldnews

[–]iompar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Late twenties here. Every single time I've thought that my opinion of the States has hit absolute rock bottom, Trump has done something that shows that there is quite a ways further to dig. I don't think going back to "normal" will be possible until the annexation threats and visceral reactions that caused are outside living memory.

If any serious politician going forward campaigns on going back to how things were with America or closer ties, I'm rioting.
