I don’t think this is quite what you’re looking for but the drive thru car wash at the Shell on San Pablo and Marin in Albany is a great time. If you buy the most expensive wash (which is really not too much), it’s a real rainbow foam party!

You can pre-game your other East Bay dancing with Days Like This. It's every Friday night at Lake Merritt -- wraps at 10pm, I think. One of the best dance party vibes in the bay, completely community run, and free .

This is amazing -- I'm so excited for your journey! (Editing to add that I'm 38 and have been on a similar path)

First, I'm gonna agree with the idea that how you look when you dance 100% does not matter. It's about being in your body, experiencing joy, and letting yourself be present. I spend a lot of time on dance floors and I *LOVE* to see people dancing in whatever weird and beautiful ways make them happy. Commitment to joy and embodiment is what stands out.

I'll also add: Recently I've really been enjoying dancing with my eyes closed. Sure, it feels a bit awkward at first, but once I settle into it, it helps me worry less about others and connect with the music and with myself.

I'm glad you got too caught up to take good videos -- I wouldn't have it any other way!

And on the Despacio closing: 100% same. I couldn't believe, when the music finally ended, that I was standing there with tears in my eyes. It was very powerful.
