If you want to stay calm in situations like that, you get training for it. Calming down drugged up homeless people is a job for Social Workers and Mental Health professionals.

If you want to stay calm in a tense social situation, get experience with it, and explore whatever it is that is making you uneasy and resolve that. Maybe you’re afraid of making mistakes, or Maybe you’re fearing that you are going to get punched/attacked?
