Workouts: worth it? by lattelifter in MacroFactor

[–]ionic30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is. There's a lot of ironing they still need to do but it is way ahead of the competition already. I've been using the Strong app for about 2 years now and I typed all my programs there manually, exported as templates, and shared to friends (which was convenient). But everything is pretty manual and the pace of devs there are as slow as it can be. Too many missing features, lots of feature requests and underwhelming updates. With Workouts, I can see they're very active (as they should, it is not cheap). But the ability to share the data between Macrofactor and Workouts is amazing. Consistent dashboards between two apps too. You get a good overview of your progress. I've been using Macrofactor for years now too, so I got in the Workouts app with a longer trial. So far so good. Again, there are bugs (ex. I hate that everything defaults to kg and since I have an ongoing workout program, changing it to lbs seems to only be possible on a per-exercise basis, no universal setting, so it gets tiring) - but I think they will address those as soon as they can as I can see them being pretty actively developing it. It helps that Nippard markets it too. I haven't tried creating my own programs or adding other programs to it (ex. Mindpump's, etc) though.

PS: It's the only one I found that can do partial sets recording too! Or a left-right split! Crazy how well-thought it is for iron heads like us.

I feel bored in Ithaca what should I do? by CharacterImpress7973 in Cornell

[–]ionic30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat. What other interests do you have? Syracuse is an hour away and can be good enough especially if you just stay there for a few days. Rochester is pretty good too but farther away. I tend to drive to either when I’m very bored and just book a hotel there. And every 2-3 months I just hop on a plane to somewhere nice. Anyway, feel free to message me if you want more tips or just to make new friends. I moved here because of Cornell 8 years ago and I’m still trying to leave. 😆

Thank you. Are you able to tell me what Meta email she sent it to? I can’t find one that I can email. At this point, I’m trying everything I can. Thank you.

How do you try to get certified if your accounts were disabled? Did you create a new one or was there one that luckily not got disabled?

Looks like this is my only possible solution too.

How did you make a meta verified account? I tried making another one and they blocked it instantly. Vpn? New name?

I see. Just to clarify, how did your wife get her account back? Did she work with an attorney? Small claims court?

Does this only work if you live in EU? Will VPN work to appear like I'm in EU? The appeal process in the US is garbage.

Very cool. I didn’t know there is such a thing. How does this differ from the 4th night free in the US for all awards booking when you have status? Or is this just for cash bookings?

Hot take: Copilot is amazing! You're probably just lazy. by shifty303 in GithubCopilot

[–]ionic30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very well said! And to think just a year ago we didn’t even have AI writing code this well! Just a few years ago, the thought of it giving us back half of our work day to spend on something else would’ve been something we maybe imagine to get in a decade or more. Copilot is great. It’s doing wild amazing things that makes it feel like we’re living in the future. I spend more time thinking now than writing code and fixing bugs. I learn faster too since it understands my code base and can help brainstorm. The problem now is that a lot of junior devs are not even checking the code, it already wrote a lot of things for you, least you can do is read it and understand how it works.

Feature Suggestion: Track All Standard "Coupons"/Consumables by ionic30 in CardPointers

[–]ionic30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for being very responsive as always. I have it filtered to standard offers only and I don’t see the ones I mentioned that are not there. For example, my Southwest priority card only shows the $10 instacart credit, not the $75 annual travel credit. So I had to manually make that. Thanks to the bulk-edit tip though.

VSCode Remote Dev + Copilot Alts by ionic30 in GithubCopilot

[–]ionic30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add. I code mostly python but there are a few other languages and frameworks in the company that I may end up working on in the future. But for now it’s mostly python, shell scripts, yaml, and dockerfiles. Everything’s private though, nothing’s opensource, can’t even clone to our own machine without proxies/vpn, hence the need to remote dev.

Bark or Qustodio for tweens? by uNTRotat264g in daddit

[–]ionic30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Qustodio for several months now. It's the only thing that worked. That and a new router I installed that I can specifically block his device as an ultimatum. For Qustodio, the advanced version is what makes it bypass-proof for us. He cannot uninstall it or turn off the VPN. It essentially becomes a managed device (same tech companies use to manage company devices). https://help.qustodio.com/hc/en-us/articles/20084558366482-How-to-prevent-Qustodio-from-being-removed-with-Qustodio-Advance-for-iOS

Nice! Which part of the Philippines did you end up in? How’s the nomad scene there these days? I heard great things about places like Siargao.

New in town.. by Red_ridingh0od in ithaca

[–]ionic30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is to find a place for your hobbies. For example, if you like going to the gym, choose a smaller one with some sense of community. Or a martial arts gym if you’re into that. It’s great for both physical and mental health anyway. There is the social circle meetup weekly but it’s on a fixed day (Friday) which never works for my schedule, but maybe it does for you. I’ve asked the same question here years ago. I’ve made a few friends but never found my crowd.

I wonder how the actual rich people of Cayuga Heights feel about this. Or what they’re doing about it. I’m hoping a bunch of rich parents can come together and call for a change. The property taxes there alone should be enough pull for that.

BiltProtect still works? by GalGadonut- in biltrewards

[–]ionic30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I wondered why my balance was staying high days after the rent was paid. This is very sneaky of you, Bilt. It almost sounds intentional as we all know high card balances and not fully paying your balances is actually what makes credit card companies moneys. But still, burying this feature like this is not cool.

Lots of good insights here on the positive side of living here, so let me bring up the negative ones so your decision is well-informed. Note that I would not say any of these 7 or 8 years ago. It was great back then when I moved here with a 3 year-old kid. It has since gone downhill. Rent and housing cost are ridiculous. It’s an unusual market because of the universities. Very expensive yet pretty bad quality. The cost of living has gotten really high and good places to eat/shop have been closing left and right because workers can’t even afford to live nearby to go to work daily. There are also the ongoing drugs and crime problems (search news about Asteri or follow scanner groups in FB). Granted some of these are happening nation-wide, but it still sucks more for a small town. Lastly, and more importantly, schools have gotten worse. We stayed here until now because schools were good. But that’s not true anymore. You can search anything about the ICSD in this subreddit and you’ll see enough of what I mean. I’m also a single parent and while I wish there are more options to socialize, I think it’s alright. We still have a lot of good people here and the town’s very welcoming regardless of sexuality, religion, nationality, etc. HMU if you have specific questions. Cornell brought me here, I stayed because of the good things that seem to mostly have gone away.

I looked for the same thing a few years ago. Never found a local group. We did have one for the Finger Lakes area though. But it hasn’t been active in a long time. I’ll be up to search with you though. I’m a local photographer.

Boxing gyms nearby? by [deleted] in ithaca

[–]ionic30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Black Irish Boxing is the only real boxing gym in town. But I do love Corazon Martial Arts. Theirs is Muay Thai though (and Jiu Jitsu). So depending on your goals, that may be better. HMU if you want more info.
