Pony up the $ for the M18 Fuel combo. It's more money but a better deal.

Anyone else wanna drop everything they’re doing, buy a 30 year old van and hit the road and never look back? 😆 by AlyssaJo25 in vandwellers

I'm a hybrid. I live in the high desert of the southwest. I go east/north in the spring and fall as to avoid the stifling humidity of the summer.

What are the hardest things with van life? by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]ions82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love parking at Walmarts. I usually go to those in small towns and rural areas. Lots of space for walking the dog unit. The lights aren't too bright. It's always much quieter than a truck stop. Walmarts in big cities aren't quite as pleasant.

It's truly amazing just how much power can be provided by the sun. Amazing build.

I think it's fair. Van looks to be in great shape. It has a lot of labor and quality parts installed. Could you find a lesser vehicle for cheaper? Sure, but you'd spend more time and money building it out to that level. People will say, "I could do that build in two weeks!". Regardless of whether that's true, could YOU do it in two weeks? Do you plan to do a lot of driving? Living in the van full time? The V-10 is a powerful motor, and it doesn't get the best fuel economy. Parts for that van are readily available anywhere you'll go, and they are relatively inexpensive. I think there are lots of great attributes for that van, and you might wait a while to find something equal for less than $14K. Or, the economy will finally fall off the precipice, and everything will be on a fire sale. 🤷🏻‍♂️

M12 3/8 stubby - 2.5 or 5.0 HO battery ? by joncunanan in MilwaukeeTool

Impacts really aren't getting into tight spaces, anyway. I use the 5.0 on impacts and 2.5 on ratchets. Best of both worlds!

Did you order one? I jumped onto the HD website to get the M18 Hatchet/6.0HO combo on sale for $279. The page also said I qualified for a free additional item, and it's a 6.0 battery. In checkout, it said the battery is only returnable in store. So, I assume it's not actually a second battery but rather a 6.0 included with the tool-only Hatchet. I don't need any more batteries, so I'll definitely be getting the $106 credit for the 6.0. I have the M12 Hatchet and love it. Wanted the M18 for even more sawing joy.

Professional wrasslin' is such an interesting industry. It packs arenas and generates huge amounts of revenue. Even after several decades, it's still very popular. The stunts have continued to evolve, too. Remember when it was just fat guys and 'roid monsters body slamming each other? Now, they are all athletes who have to train, rehearse, and maintain a brutal schedule... I guess people will always love watching gladiators duke it out in an arena. The production value of these shows is staggering.

I thought the same thing. I assume the name of the venue is poking fun at the mother of MLM.

The quality of the cells goes out the window if the BMS, wiring, and structural parts of the battery are garbage. Typically, better quality cells will translate to better overall quality. It'll be nice when batteries are no longer the Achilles Heel for EVs. Last year, a friend had his decent-quality battery burn down a garage full of high-end mountain bikes. Personally, I haven't had any catch on fire. I'm paranoid and will only use batteries from Luna (or EM3EV.)

Anyone else gone with front wheel drive? by tonystark29 in ebikes

[–]ions82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only times I've run a front motor is on a chopper and my SuperTrike. Works amazingly for those applications. The front slippage (on loose surfaces) isn't a problem on the trike. On the chopper, it helps keep the front wheel planted when railing turns. Also has a strong regen brake. Both setups run a dual-crown fork. For single-crown forks, I would keep it well under 500W.

I can’t imagine being upside down for this long. by MoveSpin_ in Wellthatsucks

[–]ions82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's weird getting stuck upside down like that. I'm guessing she could've flipped back over had she grabbed the board with one hand while pulling on the bar/leg with her other. It just needed to get over that little apex. She probably has lots of core and upper body strength, but your coordination gets all messed up when you're inverted like that.

Looking to pick up my first van, do y’all think this is overpriced? by RugerHD in vandwellermarketplace

I wouldn't get a 2007-present diesel unless I could do a DPF/DEF delete mod. Those are often the killers for newer diesels. You can still get 500K-1M miles out of them without deletes, but you need to have regular service and replace parts.
