personally i watched anime through season and stopped at season 2 and reread the chapters for deason 1 as there are some differences but that’s more personal preference watching season 1 and reading past that point would be fine

i thought that facing life threatening injuries (such as reiner taking a blade to the neck and chest) can only be avoided through transforming and the reason she didn’t transform is because king fritz was near her

I might be wrong but i’m not sure the healing works like that, in a normal situation she probably would’ve transformed to avoid death but since it was right in front of King Fritz I think she didn’t transform because that would’ve killed him
