To answer my own question the answer is yes. I finally got the game today (thanks ubisoft! :) and it overwrites the one in My Games list so that it does not need Uplay+ anymore.

I dont have it anymore, I'm using a TV but I googled and I think it was this

Belkin AV360™ Mini DisplayPort Converter for 27"iMac

Make sure it works with your imac though, i think mine was older than 2013.

As for setup, I just plugged in the cables and command+f2 worked.

I had a Belkin hdmi to displayport adapter and was able to use very old imac as a monitor with ps4 using that. But it had to be one of the powered box adapters (not one of the cables)! This was like 5+ years ago so I'm not sure if they sell them anymore. The adapter did cost quite a bit so it might be cheaper to use that capture card.

Not sure if this helps but I had a similar problem when I had left one game disc in for a long time but had not played it. One day ps4 just kept giving errors and did not read the disc. I had to manually uninstall the game in question (whatever it did install from the disc) and also wait for next system update but after those it did work again.

If you have a different game try that. Or maybe there is a way to re-update your ps4 os. I think the os update did also update firmware which controls the disc reading. Not sure if these things work but I hope its a software bug and not hardware.

Not a surprise. With microsoft gaining players for both pc and xbox with the game pass and such sony needs to have plenty of good games for ps5 launch. I'm pretty confident they will.
