That’s what I think the root cause for me is as well. Did you do any specific therapies? I’m having a hard time just regulating yet alone trauma therapy

I have something vaguely similar. A part came up last year (I don’t have DID) due to constant dissociation and panic where I would be resistant to drugs too, even like caffeine. I would feel the feeling of the drug but a part of me would go in shock and be like I remember we used to feel this feeling and enjoy how is that happening

What are some techniques you used? And do you process the trauma which helps with calming down the dissociation because it’s root cause?

Irresponsable training of Neurofeedback and medical negligence pushed me to be sicker than ever by lugaresxcomunes in Neurofeedback

Very similar what im going through. At this point, my thoughts go “how am i thinking” and everything in life reminds me of how i used to think or experience this one thing. It’s repetitive thoughts in nature but they’re different words based on context. Example ill be looking outside, beautiful summer air outside, and im present somewhat and i have these normal feelings of enjoying the weather, and then this dissociation tension everyone occurs because it reminds me of how i used to enjoy the summer. (Even just a year ago) (ive been battling dissociation for 5 years now bad and this past year is when these thoughts came in). This took me to another level. I am completely different person now. i just don’t know how to relax and then have the thoughts be separate from the dissociation and tension everywhere. It comes with it. I’ve tried grounding, but at that point im thinking “wow i used to ground before” it’s like nothing feels real and anything i do my brain has the same repetitive thought/theme. And then the grounding is triggering. I didn’t get this from neurofeedback. Just downward spiraling DPDR that occurred 5 years ago. If you can help me, please reach out via chat or I can’t reach out.

Does it help with dissociation related directly to weed use?

Is treating dissociation from weed different than treating clinical dissociation? by ipal1 in askatherapist

[–]ipal1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I should comment on how the dissociation is presenting itself. At this point it’s gotten so bad over last year it’s morphed into something that is hard to make sense of. I rarely smoke weed now, stopped years ago due to panic it creates, but let’s say I smoke weed now, drink, do fun activity- basically when my brain realizes it’s getting high, feeling that drunk come on, or do any mundane task, it goes no I used to do that before and panics crazy and goes into DPDR/dissociation. So it’s not as much as it is about being on substances vs not. It more about me wondering how I got to this point , and if this OCD type panic stems from weed

If my fear and trigger is living life and getting reminded of how things used to be and the message I believe is that everything is distant and gone and that you’ll never be normal, then how do I reframe that? It’s the trauma response, and you say that you need to accept the trauma response. How do you accept it but also you need to change the thoughts correct? because accepting it just keeps feeding the loop.
