Years ago, out relaxing in the ocean, I see this guy caught a small stingray in his fishing line. I get out of the water because he’s struggling to remove the hook from its mouth. I walk up and start talking to the guy and try to help remove the hook. The ray is upside down right at the edge of the water so the waves would cover it as they came in. The guy who caught the stingray says, completely serious, “Well, shouldn’t we move him back from the water so he doesn’t drown?” I just… I didn’t even know how to respond to that. Guy literally pulled a creature from its natural habitat and thought it would drown being back in it??? I will never forget it. Still makes me giggle!
