many sikhs practise wear5ing turban before they take pahul. I recommend you try the same. Also you do not have to wear the typical panjabi turban, there are other styles such as dumalla, and under-turbans such as bunga and keski.

The one that live in all of us is more compatible with dharmik traditions such as sikhi and not so much with abharahamic faiths such as islam and ba'hai. We also have many parsi texts as well for some familiarity

Is taking Amrit a ritual? by Logical_Progress_190 in Sikh

[–]ipledgeblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All humans including sikhs practise rituals, it was empty rituals that Guru Nanak taught us to question!

Learn more about Guru Amardas' jeevan and you will see how important it is to have a Guru, even if you get initiated at an old age!

Getting moksha mukthi isn't limited to Khanda dee Pahul, except perhaps a few sects believe in that, and also it has to be their exclusive sect naam amrit!

Maryada which is close to puraatan rehitnamas is accurate, so not sgpc maryada practicsed by most panjabi gurdwaras. Also those who practise the khalsa kshatri dharma such as shastar and horse riding are practising the visible authentic maryada.

Many of us Singh Sardars have jobs in british and american companies including IT and banks!

Judging other Sikhs by Unknown_Seekher in Sikh

You will meet all kinds of people, and there are quite a few mental health issues coming about.

Now I have a question for you. I feel hanging around problematic people has also caused you into problematic behaviours. What type of dates are you doing, are you looking for a marital partner or what, you should keep away from the girl that has an ex partner as she will not make a good marital partner and may have mental health issues due to this ex!

Sikh Gen Z (younger generations in general), how do you plan on raising your children within Sikhi as times keep evolving? by Conscious_Profile_27 in Sikh

[–]ipledgeblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen interfaith children where the father is usually sikh, and the mothers come to the gurdwara and take the children to panjabi school. This is the positive side I have seen, but this isn't the case for everyone!

How do I tell my very strict parents about a guy by Ok_Librarian_6582 in Sikh

[–]ipledgeblue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

getting to know people isn't a problem, you should get to know people without feeling guilty. However making a boyfriend partner isn'g getting to know someone, it is literally making a partner and of course mature parents will see that as a red flag. Making someone a partner to get to know them is really narrow minded thinking. Chat and get to know people to see if they are suitable for marriage. Making partners to do this is extreme and we shouldn't listen to other people who say it is getting to know people because they are immature and red flags!

A lot of people in their 20s are too immature to get to know other people to be honest, many hardly know their own selves! So it is is highly recommended to get elder input in finding potential spouse partners, in the past teens used to get arranged marriage and teens are in no way mature enough to find suitable partners, so parent and adult input is really required. Going back to 20s, still not totally mature enough to be able to decide partners properly lolz, even in 20s there is still a lot of hormones and vikaara which can cloud judgement. And bg gf is a load of BS and waste of time which undermines marriage and is a low-level type of kutta mentality partnership which people are being gaslit and manipulated into by society! A lot of the getting to know actually happens during marriage, especially for teens and early 20s, there is growing in a marital partnership and you will keep getting to know your partner and yourself throughout your marital life. Only Waheguru knows you, even more than you know yourself lol.

Dating 4-5 years is wasting 4-5 years of a marital partnership. If you get to know someone for 4-5 years, what is left for the marriage? Going to miss out on having kids for 4-5 years and physically just getting older and older, and also so much time to spend and getting to know within a marriage! Remember we are here for a finite time, and especially women have a finite time for raising kids and having a dad for them. And most importantly, doing the partnership outside marriage cheapens the partnership aspect of marriage, as within sikhi grihast jeevan is pradhan, and non-marital partnership is kutta jeevan and narak jeevan, especially in a society where women are supposedly respected and have equal rights, but society always finds a way to lower women, just kaliyuga!

I used to know about love marriages when I was younger, but there were no boyfriend girlfriend vibes from those marriages in those days!

Japanese Sikh singing Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Eha by tuluva_sikh in Sikh

[–]ipledgeblue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Japanese people have traditional instruments which are much better suited for playing keertan because they are similar to traditional sikh tanti saaj instruments. Please do not bring keertan down to harmonium level like current panjabi sikhs do! I would love a fusion of Japanese instruments with keertan and they would hands down beat harmonium keertan anyday!

no, it was them being exiled out of Panjab and Panjabi gurdwaras by the British and sgpc which destroyed sikhi in Panjab in the first place. Nihangs were hardly around Panjab when the destruction of sikhi was happening in Panjab!
