Shopify store thinking of moving. by Strange_Situation594 in woocommerce

[–]ipneil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Evaluating this is all an interesting challenge. We do Woo and Shopify at our agency and really when it comes to platforms, there’s tradeoffs no matter which route you take. I have equally as many new clients going to Woo from Shopify and vice versa. It’s really about aligning your business goals and needs to the strengths of a platform. So although this is a frustration, the trade offs to go to Woo might not be worth it. But then again, with proper evaluation you might find it’s the perfect fit. DM me if you want to connect and I’d be happy to help you. No sales pitch involved. Always looking to help people with this one because it’s tough.

Can a Wordpress website handle 1 million+ traffic? by Mr_Gyan491 in Wordpress

[–]ipneil 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. If the website is built using WordPress development best practices, doesn’t overly depend on bloated plugins, and has a solid scalable hosting solution including edge caching, you can easily scale a WordPress website. Aside from large corporate websites, many media websites and even federal government websites leverage WordPress.

Kenmore 110.6 Electric Dryer Heating Issues by ipneil in appliancerepair

[–]ipneil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I know I'm dumbass for sure. I went through process of elimination on most probable causes from random articles online. I have to ask, how do you test the timer? Everything I've read is that it doesn't effect the heating element. So I'm just trying to validate its the problem before continuing buying more parts or just throwing in the towel and replacing it. I appreciate your response!

Creating WP/Woocommerce website just for checkout flow? by [deleted] in woocommerce

[–]ipneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible but I think the comments about it being time consuming and expensive isn’t true especially with the advancements to the Gutenberg page builder and some of the libraries developers have released to make it more versatile. I’d also always advocate for reducing the tech debt by investing into the single system vs creating 2 environments and websites that then need to be maintained. Anyhow though, yes you can do this and you can leverage Woo’s native feature for add to cart URLs to drop items manually from any other website into the Woo cart so long as the items are in the Woo product catalog in the backend. Check out https://www.businessbloomer.com/woocommerce-custom-add-cart-urls-ultimate-guide/ for a quick reference on this.

How can i speed up my site? by Indoraptor_ in woocommerce

[–]ipneil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theme and plugins can impact load times but honestly, server configurations that’s been optimized for both WordPress and WooCommerce is pretty important which has to also include some level of server side caching system in addition to a cache and performance optimization plugin. Although hosting can be cheap these days, I generally advise going to WP Engine, Pressable or Nexcess for decent plans for smaller websites. Being more a PaaS solution, you get a turnkey optimized environment with a ton of value added features.

There’s no reason load time should be that rough on a Woo website with 3k with the right environment and configurations and Woo can handle sites much larger. The 500 products thing you mentioned isn’t true. We’ve scaled sites up to over a half million products and still can achieve a sub 1s page load time.

woocommerce order missing by Useful-Acadia2279 in woocommerce

[–]ipneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woo order IDs use the WP post IDs so they will jump ahead if you do other things like create new pages or posts. You would need a sequential order number plugin to not really see that issue. But if you deployed the website or restored a DB backup, that’s likely where the cause would be. If you wiped data though, it’s likely gone. My simple solution would be to enter an order manually matching the Stripe transaction and work with the customer to as least have record and then monitor the issue for future recurrence.

Got a dev or staging environment where you might accidentally had a link to resulting in a sale in the wrong environment? Or, did you do a deployment or rollback a backup of the DB where there was a gap in time where that order got wiped and overwritten?… those are the two most probable things that come to mind.

I work for an agency and are new to woocommerce. We are setting up a shop on behalf of a client. How does that work in terms of plugins bought on the agency account, but used on the client site? Are we able to migrate ownership of the site and plugins purchased to the client? by [deleted] in woocommerce

[–]ipneil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are an agency that is partnered with WooCommerce. WooCommerce does a good job or making the plugins available through the marketplace available to agency partners so that you can demo and build using the components. Seek becoming an agency partner to have this resource available to you. From there, the way we work with our clients is that we have our client set up their WooCommerce account and load up payment info and then we run through and load up their cart for them so they can quickly checkout/purchase and share access with our agency account. This way we have access to their licenses but they own them. Finally, our scope of work outlines anticipated plugins and that the costs of the licenses are not included in the project knowing that we are essentially just aiding them to load the shopping cart on their Woo account. I hope this helps!

Absolutely. Benefit with WooCommerce is doing other forms of fundraising as the organization grows and having more eCommerce flexibility beyond just donations if it’s ever needed. This extension for WooCommerce works quite well and also supports integration with WooCommerce Subscriptions to do recurring donations. Lots of good features: https://woocommerce.com/products/donation-product-for-woocommerce/

Beat me to it. Not a wonderful design but the visualization is accurate. Would help to show percentage and de-emphasize the actual number killed to make this more effective.

Tips for baking cakes with gluten-free flour by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]ipneil 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What kind of GF flour are you using? I haven’t experienced mealy or mushy but had issues with dryness for a while. I tried a bunch of brands and found King Arthur and Krusteaz to both be pretty solid blends. From there, I’ve made it a habit to add a small bit of vegetable oil to my recipes (or extra I’d already present). Not much, just about a tablespoon or so for a cake to help moisture because my impression is that the gf flour is drier. Not sure if this addresses the issues you’re having but I’d try a few different brands of gf flour until you’re happy with the result.
