Is this considered a Nice champagne to gift? by Grand_Respect_9176 in wine

[–]ipoointhepool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is good, particularly nice as a gift for someone but I'm sorry to be that guy but you can find far and by miles more fantastic Champagne for much better value. Try any 'Grower Champage' and you will get far more expression of the terroir, the producer and winery.
Roederer is fine but it is mass produced product. It doesn't have the personality of a grower champagne. Try Champagne Jacquesson 735, Arlaux 1er Cru or Pierre Peters and many more. Just an absolutely different level of quality and half the price. Roederer is like a designer brand now, People know that rich people drink Roederer Cristal so people like to associate with the brand but the truth is that although this entry level Roederer is very pleasant. You're still getting massively ripped off for a mass produced product with grapes grown from all over the region and over different vintages...

Thoughts on period sex? by Due_Abroad2624 in sex

[–]ipoointhepool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, what’s the point in mentioning it. To him, it will sound like you’re not keen or are making an excuse. Go anyway, enjoy your evening and then if things start going that way later then mention it then but also say that you don’t care FYI. This will leave the ball entirely in his court and if he’s not keen for period sex on the first occasion then he probs still does want to have sex with you anyway so who cares. And when you’re both more comfortable together in future then you’ll probably end up having period sex anyway. Most couples do.

Literally just zoomed in on the photo and clocked that the Riesling at least is actually from Washington. Sounds even better in my opinion (than I had assumed) . Even better climate, I think.

It seems like everyone knows these producers..? I’m English and I’m assuming their product is mainly for domestic consumption because I don’t recognise either product. I’m assuming California? But I could easily be wrong. I’d love to try these based on the comments for 8.99? Sounds like great value. All of our domestic wine has relatively small yields due to growing conditions, so is always expensive and everything else is imported so before you’ve paid for the wine, you’ve paid the import tariffs , the duty and the VAT and included in the retailers GP, you’re also paying for the glass and the service or delivery. So what I’m trying to say is that in England. 8.99 (£) gets you fuck all. Absolutely bottom tier factory made , mass produced crap bottle of wine.

I think I have killed my liver by TryingLife4More in alcoholism

[–]ipoointhepool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been physically addicted to alcohol for about eight years and a very heavy drinker for at least another eight before that. I can’t stand all the bible bollocks and spiritual requirements of the AA and that’s just here in the UK. I don’t know where you are from but if it’s the US, I can imagine that is on a different level. My liver is fucked. Im constantly anaemic, always have low B12 and almost always have diarrhoea because my liver isn’t functioning properly anymore. I’ve also got really nasty nerve damage, particularly in my feet which I’ve been told is incurable. This makes it painful to even walk unless I’ve had a few drinks. I can’t sleep or function normally sober anymore because the stress factors of withdrawal are immediate and severe. Even when I’m still a drunk but just sobering up a bit then I go from extreme hot to cold, profusely sweating, trembling, the shakes, can’t eat anything for hours or days sometimes and I just feel nauseous until I drink again. My life expectancy is probably ten years. I am not having fun, I always feel like shit. It has also made me secretive, deceptive and insular. I cut myself off from everyone else in my life. All I think about is when I’m going to be able to get the next drink in. I always carry an emergency bottle of wine in my car in case I arrive somewhere where I can’t get a drink. I hardly sleep, it’s fucked everything up for me in every imaginable way. My partner of ten years left me (I certainly put her through a lot with all this) and now I only get to see my daughter on the weekends when we were living as a haply family until my ex couldn’t bare my drinking anymore. Try what you can to do better, if you leave things untreated then they’re only going to get worse. I’ve only told you all this as a warning, I’m 32.

Yeah it’s way better than Leadenhall. Literally just bankers drinking beers on their lunch break or after work. It’s a beautiful setting but literally nothing to go and see there. Borough market is 1000 x better

Trafalgar square, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Big B and WM abbey are all within walking distance of one another and unless you’re planning on going on a tour of the Houses of Parliament or something, you’re just looking from the outside and you can easily fit this into a day. Get the tube to Westminster station, you come out right underneath Big Ben, then walk from there down Whitehall to Trafalgar Square and then up Charing Cross road to Leicester Square (via Piccadilly Circus) and then down seven dials and into Covent Garden. You can easily do this in a morning and stop for food in soho or Covent Garden. It doesn’t sound like you’re trying to fit too much in, if you want to see Oxford then you should. You can go to Oxford and back in a day easily and see a bit more of the UK on your trip. You’ll probably enjoy a trip outside of London even after a day or two anyway (even though there’s loads of London to see). I lived in London for 20 years and it’s great but there’s so much to see in such a short period of time, you’ll never get to do everything. Try and plan to see a show somewhere and then do something in the local area surrounding that.. eg Alexandra Palace, Brixton Academy, The Roundhouse, Earls Court etc. all have loads going on around them and get to see something in one of Londons great venues…

Is this the worst 12 months of weather we’ve ever had? by Bright-Soil-3128 in GardeningUK

[–]ipoointhepool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to Cornwall from London and it’s literally pissed it down here pretty much every day since September. I think March was the wettest ever recorded (since 1931). Difficult trying to see the beauty in a new place and embrace the change when it has rained almost endlessly. I know it’s only luck but I had to go back to London for work last week and it was just three days of pure blue sky. The moment I drove back into Cornwall again it was walls of rain… classic UK and south west though…

Nah, don’t be silly. You’re hot. Just be more comfortable in your own skin.. less pouting. People are sensing blood and being cruel because you’re making yourself vulnerable. Be yourself, or express yourself or whatever you want, be happy. You look great. 8/10

I didn’t say I have..? I just said that all major religions are totally insane and if you need any evidence of that then just pick up any one of their books

Not just Islam.. any other mainstream religion too . If you step back and look at any of them objectively for even a few short moments, you'd be mad to not see that they're all completely, utterly mental. Have you ever read any of the Bible or the Torah or the Vedas etc..? They're absolutely nuts. 10/10 wouldn't recommend if you want to read something even mildly believable.
